I have an F20 Farmall, and I am looking for a tow behind trailer to haul it. Does anyone have any suggestions to start looking. The width of the tractor makes it difficult to find the right trailer.

Can you move the rear tires in or no. On
my trailer the tires on it are under it
so the bed is wider and works good for
lot of the tractors with the tires way
out.

F20 does not have adjustable tread.

The trailer with the wheels under the deck are usually called "deckover" trailers by their manufacturers. That is likely what you will need.

Another option to a deckover is a trailer with "drive on" or "drive over" fenders. PJ also calls them "buggy hauler" trailers. The fenders are made sturdy enough to drive the tractor directly over the fenders to load it. This allows for a lower trailer deck height. However it gives you less flexibility in positioning a wide load properly on the trailer. The tractor will have to be backed on and the rear wheels positioned ahead of the fenders, which may make the load a little tongue heavy.

I agree with the drive over fenders. You could gain forward to back positioning flexibility if needed with short lengths of planks.

I would have to ask how will you load- drive on ,or winch on? Deck over would offer a less cumbersome approach. Drive on over fenders means you would find yourself or others feathering the clutch. Anybody who has loaded by feathering knows, it can be challenging. Just saying. CM

Had a wide rear F-20 one time. Made a platform to support the rear tires outside the frame, behind the fenders. Had to put
about 800# of counter weight on the front of the trailer to make it ride right, because the tractor couldn't pull forward
enough.

For a wide rear F-20, a deck-over trailer is best, else, sell it and find a narrow tread tractor.

Deck-over trailers are almost always higher than deck-between-wheels trailers. The height when backing off can make an inexperienced driver nervous and result in "feathering" of the clutch, more commonly called slipping the clutch, combined with applying the brakes, which can cause abrupt turning in either direction, which could cause upset and injury. Another middle ground alternative is the "pierced deck" deck-over. Pierced deck trailers are usually five inches or more lower than full deck over trailers. Not all manufacturers build them. PJ, Kaufman, and Big Tex do.
