Scales Elkins WV

Ramblin sounds good. I have had them question things that were fine.
Don't think in 20 year I ever was through there. So can't say about a scale. Probably not a big enough pipe for the sunshine or I would have been.

(quoted from post at 18:00:24 04/04/18) Run your equipment legal and no need too worry about the scales.

Well that is nice eagle, but if it goes without saying, why say it? Just sayin.

Not a truck on the road that it is not possible for an aggressive cop to write up something. Even a new truck just driven off the lot. Heard a vehicle enforcement cop make that statement. Outdated obscure irrelevant laws still on the books. Just depends on if the cop is actually interested in safety, or how many tickets they can write.

Actually I was asking because every time I haul something I like to make sure I cross at least one set of scales and if there aren't any at Elkins I'll have to figure how far out of
my way I'll have to go to cross a set(LOL)

No I don't think so, after the 4 lane was built past where it was at they closed it up it was on Rt. 33 you had to go off the main road into the woods to get to it.

Boy you got That right! I got stopped out in the middle of Nowhere, Iowa by a state trooper. Walked around my truck for ten minutes. Tractor was a year old Ford F-700 single axle, trailer a well maintained 45 ft dry box. He finally wrote me up a warning ticket for not having a METAL box around the battery mounted on the frame rail behind the cab. I bet Ford put it in a non-conductive fiberglass box for a good reason.

I expected so much more from a state trooper.

I do not miss having to put up with stupid cops. They see a big truck and just have to harass the driver. Where does that fit into their moto to "Protect and Serve"?

mmfan55: You have that correct. I was driving New trucks back from Freightliner's Portland plant. A local fleet bought them an I flew out and drove three of them home. They had two of them piggy backed on the back of one. Coming across Nebraska I got wrote up for the trucks not be secured correctly. Cop never did exactly tell me what was wrong. The mounting was totally factory done. Hundreds of trucks each day shipped that way. The company I picked them up for just paid the ticket rather than fight it. I still think that was all the fellow was doing. He knew we would just pay the $85 ticket since we were out of state.
