Wondering what kind of oil change interval you folks use for a semi? This one holds 10 gals of oil.

10,000 mile changes for regional hauling, replace the drain plug with a Fumoto drain valve, makes it easier to collect samples for oil analyses.
Also takes the mess out of changing oil, we've been using them for years.

Ran 12,000 to 15000 on the trucks I owned. One of the company's I was leased to took the company trucks to 25,000 and still getting normal oil analysis reports. That was using petroleum oil. Folks I drive for now go 40,000 between changes using the synthetic blend stuff. These are the bigger engines ( 855 / N14 Cummins: 3406/C15 Cat. 60 series Detroit, etc...) . Hold 2 or so more gallon of oil. Just saying that answer is all over the place.

I always changed at 15,000 with a million miles on trucks. Changed filter with each oil change. I never had much of a problem with mess dropping into the bottom 1/3 of a barrel for a catch pan. The filter was the place to make a mess. Tucked up behind the frame rail over the tie rod. I used to put a 2-1/2 gallon jug under the tie rod wedged so it caught the oil and a pail under the front drain plug.

It depends more on service than miles. OTR trucks can go many times further than occasional use local run trucks. Don't open your air filter housing until the air intake restriction indicator tells you to.
