Trailer Ramp Springs

I picked up a used trailer that doesn't have spring loaded ramps. I am having a 3rd ramp made up and was curious about having springs added to all 3 ramps. One person I talked to said those springs break often. My question is, do these springs help a lot and do they last?

Thanks,
Dan

If they are the correct spring installed
correctly they work good. There are several
different ones and the load needs to be
appropriate for the spring.

I have a PJ trailer that's 6 years old and like spring assist ramps. A women or kid can put up and down.

I remove mine when I get a trailer. The ramps aren't that heavy, and with the springs on I can't slide them when they are down....which I have to do at times.

If I didn't have assist springs on mine, I wouldn't be able to raise the ramps. But with them I can raise them easily. Have had it for about 15 years and have never broken a spring yet. I run a 20' with 5' dove Elite Gooseneck trailer. Sure helps this old man out. Keith

I've a 24' Felling Goose, and wouldn't be w/o them. They are not loaded when the ramps are up and you
can slide them with ease. Never broke one them.
