Recently purchased a 1992 f350 to pull tractor around. Its a 460 with 5 speed manual transmission. Speedometer reads slow. Truck says 35, gps says 45. Replaced speed sensor and checked PSOM calibration. Still reads slow. Needle is steady and proofs out like it should. Anybody have exprience like this?
 
Tire size will affect speedometer. Have a 94 F350 with 460 5 speed with 4:10 gearing. When I got it had 265/16 for tires, but when I put new on went back to factory size of 235/16. I noticed speedometer changed a little when switching tire sizes, but not sure it was 10 mph. Scott
 
I feel your pain Rob.. I was going down the hiway last week & smoke came pouring outta my dash..
The tach quit working & the speedo is WAY OFF..
I quit driving it until I have a chance to replace the inst. cluster..& bought a newer truck.
THEN I find out, theres an app. you can download on your phone for a speed & tach..
It took about 10 seconds to download & its VERY accurate & BIG & BRIGHT.
Just a thought, if you cant figure your problem out out right away..
I wont drive a vehicle w/o a speedo..

Ya might wanna go back thru the programing one more time.. They're fully adjustable.
 
Calibration looks correct for tire size, 215/85-16. Latest therory is some one may have removed needle and didnt install in right position.
 
I had that happen on an 84 model that I bought used. It had a newly installed transmission in it. The speedometer read about 10 mph slow. I finally figured out that the drive gear in the transmission was for a different rear end ratio than what this truck was equipped with. I was able to mostly correct it with a different driven gear. They just go on the end of the speedometer cable or the speed sensor. They are cheap and easily exchanged.
