Just bought a new truck the other day. Gonna be looking at a newer gooseneck trailer. Wondering if anybody out there has any experience with the truck. It is a 4 wheel drive standard cab and its the 6.0 vortec gas. What size trailer do you pull? And what brands should I look for and stay away from? Thanks for the help!!!!

I also have 6.0 liter in my 2500 HD. I pull a 20+5 14,000lb Starlite brand trailer. When I have 10,000lbs on the trailer, it is plenty for the truck to handle comfortably. I wouldn't want a bigger trailer. The Starlite I have now is ok, but I liked my PJ brand that I had prior to this one better. I highly recommend PJ as a trailer brand.

I heard recently that PJ trailers had been ....I dunno, bought or sold, but was now making their trailers now as well as used to. I had bought one a few years back and loved it!!

Anyone have any experience with a Rice
trailer? There is a trailer lot in
Frankfort Indiana that has those

My truck is an 04 2500HD 6.0 with 4.10 gearing. It has the 4 speed 4L80E. While the trans is tough as nails its a little more limiting than the trans you have, 6L90E. Not really a worlds difference in towing ability. Major benefits of a 6L90E is the double overdrive which you would never want to use 6th while towing, and the low first gear that helps getting loads moving.
My trailer is a 12,000lbs Appalachian 24 gooseneck. Its rated payload is 10,200lbs with an 1800lbs pin weight. So I guess that must mean the trailer only weighs 3600lbs.
Some people are of the mind set that you need the strongest, heaviest trailer. I disagree with that. I suggest an adequately built one and mine is.
24' overall, 8" channel frame, 25" cross member spacing, 102" deck width, 4ft dovetail, 6' slide in ramps with 6000lbs ez lube axles.
I paid $4600 for it but the price is a little higher now.
It pulls good. That trailer seems to be of good construction. I load it to capacity very often.
A heavier built trailer would be that much more weight I am hauling around.
If you are towing around heavy construction equipment on a daily basis then maybe you would want something a little stronger but I have hauled skid steers around without any issues. It handles my Super M loaded with weights and my smaller C at the same time no problem.

I have looked at those Rice trailers. I was NOT impressed. I will not buy one.

I live about a half hour away from the moritz factory and always here good of them I would defiantly look into them

I looked into quite a few trailers before I bought mine. I bought a PJ and I really like it. The only thing I don't care for it the powder coating. I would have preferred paint, but that's ok. The trailer is very well made in my opinion and I love the recessed LED lights.

I have a f250 and pull a Corn Pro 20 and 5 goose neck 15000 gvw. Rubber axles. 14 ply tires. Good fit for a single rear tire truck. And below the magical 26000 gvw.

The only thing I will say about these trucks is that the 6.0 is a gutless dog. Have an 08 3500 at work, and that thing is a pile of crap with a head on a header wagon. Handles and controls it alright, but no power. I have read that getting a tune really wakes them up and makes a new truck out of it.

I have had a PJ for around ten years. It has been good except for the powder coat. If you can find one that is painted.

I have one that pulls a tandem axle trailer with a 7000 !b skid loader. If you have 1 that is gutless you need to get it looked at. Mine will run 70+ mph up hill, down hill, flat ground with this trailer combo all day long-- and has.

I second that. I have a 2012 6.0 and it pulls very well. Gets 10 mpg all day long running 65-70 pulling 8500 lbs and has no problem at all.

My 2004 6.0 with 4.10's runs 70 on the highway hills and all pulling 14,000lbs. Granted its a little slow getting up to speed. For what it is, for the cost its great. None of the issues of a diesel.

got a new PJ in 2006 by 2008 it was junk, hauled my dozers on it.was a cheep trailer, so I got what I payed
for, then got a Moritz 26' with 4' dove tail [good trailer still have it] and in 2014 got a corn pro, they
haul dozers and track-hoes. trucks are 98 chevy 454 auto 4:11 and 03 chevy 6.0 auto 4:11 both trucks run
strong pullin all that weight
