Trailer Tire Advice

Been pulling a PJ 7000# trailer around for the past 8+ years for local weekend tractor pulls. Trailer sits outside and I am thinking I need to probably replace the tires even though they don't look that bad.
Any advice on new tires?

Power King bias tires, mine are way too old but are still running,15 years later. Look for a Multi Mile Tire dealer. Warehouse is in Springfield.

14 ply Hankook I've run them on my 3 stock trailers for several years with only one flat. 10 ply truck tires don't make 2 years in the mesquite and flint rocks. Tony

You need a heavier tractor. Then you will wear your tread off before you need to worry about side wall deterioration, LOL.

There is a brand of tire that is made in China, labeled for "trailer use only". DO NOT buy those. They look good, but when mounted and inflated, They are no longer round. It is visible to the naked eye.

There are dozens of trailer tires made in China. Some are okay. Some are total garbage. You have to be more specific.

I have heard, though, that Maxxis M8008's are a darned good tire.

As you say there are many tires made in China, just as there is a lot of everything made there. Generally speaking if it is made to the specs. of an American company, under their name, it is more likely to be of better quality. The Chinese manufacturer is constantly under inspection and under threat of loosing the business if they don't keep to the specs.

I refuse to buy ANY tire that is "made in China" Is that specific enough for you?

Buy regular pickup truck heavy rated radial tires from a good supplier. If your trailer has the same size as your truck, just move the truck tires back when they get worn. Never had any good luck with either trailer tires or bias tires.
