I have a GMC 2500HD with a 20 foot 14,000 lb. bumper-pull trailer. I have property about five miles from home that I want to use the tractor back-hoe there. Would not have to get on any highway, but just township roads.
I'm thinking that I would be better off just driving the back-hoe to the property. I don't want to damage my trailer or truck. The guy I hired to deliver it for me had a Ford F 250 with a 24 or 26 foot goose-neck trailer. What do you guys think?

Specs show it to be about 9,000 lbs, 9500 lbs with an extendahoe, so you should be fine.

I haul my Ford 3500TLB on a 14,000lb gooseneck trailer with a 3/4 ton truck. Never had any issues at all. Longest distance was 90 miles or so.

Five miles is not that far to drive or haul with your truck. I haul a 8,000lb. tractor with my 24ft. bumper pull to shows and pulls with no problems but I could use a bigger truck.

Driving the tractor 5 miles at 15 MPH will take about 20 minutes of your time. I doubt you can load, chain down, haul, unchain and unload the tractor in a whole lot less time. Your choice.

9000# tractor on a bumper pull 14K is very doable with a 2500HD even with the 6.0. That's about the load I pull on my 24' gooseneck.

I haul my hoe just a 480e. To the fields in the spring. Driving around fields taking targets of opportunity! Have blew hoses, flat tires etc. Want my truck within walking distance. I can load and tye down in 5 minutes. 3/4 ton truck with airbags and a 15000 lb. Gooseneck with rubber axles. Pulls excellent. Have went 250 miles one way.

Vics how do you like your air bags? Late summer I put a pair of 5,000 lb. Air Lift air bags on my pickup. I have only made a few shows and pulls last fall but like the way the truck handles with them.

I added air lift bags to our 1/2-ton Chevy truck. Truck used to sit low in the rear even with a light load. Now it performs like a dream!! Can't even imagine going back to "not" having air lift bags.

Unfortunately, I didn't get the full system that includes air compressor, so will hopefully be adding an air system to the truck this year.

I love them. I actually took them off a older truck. Had to drill holes in the frame. But lets it ride good empty. And loaded. Doesn't take much air to level it. 10 to 20. I'm like pf. Don't have a dedicated air compressor. But I carry a 12v to air my puller tires.

I carry 30 lbs loaded and 15 lbs without trailer and load. My trailer & tractor weigh about 10,000 lbs. total and truck rides level and a better ride loaded.
