ft. wheel and goose neck together?

I have both 5th wheel and goose neck trailers that I pull with separate trucks. I am wondering if there is a set up where I can have both a 5th wheel and gooseneck set up on my dually chevy flatbed pickup (duramax/ allison) so it is easy to move whatever trailer I need. Payload would not be an issue as I would only be hauling what was appropriate for the truck and trailer being used. I basically want to have the option of pulling a 5th wheel equipment trailer when, due to the load weight, I could more comfortably travel in my flatbed chevy pickup than my tractor trailer truck.

We have a truck with gooseneck ball and bought a 5th wheel camper. Best option was this hitch. Takes about 10 min to hook up. Aluminium block attached to pin on camper.

I have a BW goose-neck hitch in my 2015 GMC 2500 and a Curtis 20,000 lb fifth-wheel hitch that fits into where the goose-neck ball goes. Just push the locking pin back in the BW and you are all set.

I think Wally B is meaning a fifth wheel trailer of the type ususlly pulled by an over the road semi-tractor, not a trailer with a light duty fifth wheel as found on an RV trailer.
Personally I have never seen this done with a pickup; maybe use a dolly??, what about trailer brakes??

I don't think it would be possible to install a semi-trailer type of 5th wheel on a flatbed. It would need to be mounted directly to the frame of the truck.

My Reese 5th wheel hitch mounts to the frame rails, through the bed to rails mounted in the bed. I can pull four pins and change to a goose neck That works for me.

B&W makes a gooseneck hitch and a fifth wheel adapter that drops in the hole where the ball is. The ball comes out and the fifth wheel drops in. I used to have one.

A fifth wheel hitch with mounting rails, you pull four pins and the hitch will lift out. You can sill have the ball in the bed.

agree. Even if you could mount a proper 5th wheel directly to the frame, I think he could run into other problems. 1. The hitch pin on a semi-trailer is located further back underneath the trailer body, whereas the coupler on a gooseneck or 5th wheel RV sticks out in the front; if you tried to hook a semi-trailer to a pickup chassis the front of the trailer would be so close to the cab you wouldn't be able to turn, plus there would be more weight on the hitch and he wouldn't be able to retain use of the gooseneck ball. 2. The hitch would most likely be too low for the trailer to ride level. 3. The axles on a semi-trailer are located much further to the rear than they are on a gooseneck equipment trailer or 5th wheel RV, so up to 50% of the loaded trailer weight could be resting on the hitch, too much for a 1-ton dually. And, as I mentioned before, how would you work the brakes, since most semi-trailers are air braked. There are reasons you don't see people towing semi-trailers with dually pickups, including the DOT wanting to take a close look at everything.

The OP said he would like to use his pickup instead of [b:1151b30b0f][i:1151b30b0f]"my tractor trailer truck"[/b:1151b30b0f][/i:1151b30b0f], so I don't think the kids of adapters and hitches being recommended by some posrers would work.

B&W hide away hitch. Its what I have in my 2500HD. You can then pull the ball out, and drop in the B&W companion.
