trailer winch?

looking to get a winch and was wondering which one would be the best to get (name brand). What to look for in one the pros and cons. Going to put it on my gooseneck trailer looking to pull on tractors and equipment. Thanking about a 10000lb to 12000lb one. Tks

I have a Ramsey 8500lb rated winch on my goose neck trailer. best money I ever spent. depending how much you plan on using one a cheaper one like Harbor freight sells maybe a good fit for you. If you will be using one on a daily bases get a good brand name one such as Ramsey, Warn.

I looked into this earlier this year as I was in the market for a winch. General consensus was that the Badlands winches from Harbor Freight were actually pretty good. Alot of people actually recommended them, especially for only the occasional use on a trailer. I ended up buying their 12k winch; believe it was on sale for $350. Also bought the wireless remote kit and extended warranty!

I put one of Harbor Freight Badlands 12,000 lb. winch but will not see a lot of.I put one on my trailer just in case tractor would brak down at a pull or show.I built a cover out of an old mailbox to keep weather off it.

There are different Winch's for everyone's application and Bank account.

My Trailer has twin 7200 lbs. axels, torsion suspension, eight stud rims, 24' deck, bumper hitch:

I'm totally satisfied with my MADE in the USA Ramsey "PATRIOT"....95000........ (Installed Snatch block, may use someday)

Series WOUND motor:

Winch Battery is connected with Twist on WELDER COUPLINGS:

It's been worked hard for the past ten years:

Not a minutes trouble:

I bought the HF Badlands 12000 lb for my small trailer, never expected to use it on the big trailer. It pulled this truck/tractor on no problem single line. Took longer to chain it down then load it by myself. I also bought a receiver plate so I can use it in a number of places.

I know its not a name brand but my HF 9000 lb winch is 10 years old with no problems....
I only use it 5-10 times a year..I always use a snatch block to double the pull..If its on a
real hard pull I stop and let it cool every 15-20 seconds..Several times I have pulled on
7000-8000 lb tractors and combines with the drive wheels sliding.

No but the price was right and I would rather have plenty of winching power than not enough. Plus a larger winch lessens the chance of overworking/overheating it. You also have to consider that 12k is with a single layer on the spool. Each additional layer lessons the capacity so if I don't cut car short I may have 5 layers when winching 20ft. I'd have to look up the specs again, but that may drop me down to say 7500lbs.
