Best Tire For My 2500HD??

Truck i purchased a month ago has the
BFG All Terrains and I don't like them
at all. These are too agressive for my
everyday use and want to put a new set
on. I've been shopping around and have
no idea what I want to put on it!!! What
are some of you guys using on your HD
trucks? I've been looking at everything
from Michelin LTX to Coopers to
Firestone Trans force. Looking for best
bang for my buck as usual

To get the best bang for your buck it helps to match the tires to your needs. Two wheel drive or four wheel drive? One thousand mile a year or fifty thousand miles a year? Do you mostly commute empty on dry pavement at high speeds, or do you need to pull a heavy livestock trailer in the yard uphill through mud, snow and ice?

www.DiscountTire.com and www.TireRack.com can sometimes be helpful.

The Firestone Transforce AT are a great high mileage tire that alot of my friends run, and love. Michelin LTX is also a very good option.

I run the Michelin LTX tires. They ride great, they hold up good and pull pretty good in snow and mud. My .02 worth.

About a month ago I put on Kelly "Edge" load range E, high speed, 80lb.pressure tire. They are a semi aggressive tire and don't sing or hum running down the road. I pull a trailer and they ride better than the tires I had on before.

I really like the Michelin LTX tire. My boss has those on his ford and has 55000 on them and he expects another 5000 to 7500 before they will need replaced. I don't drive that many miles and expect I wouldn't need to replace them before I'll be ready to trade in 3 to 4 years. I probably put on maybe 7500 to 9000 miles a year and will rarely ever see any sort of off road use.

Maybe there's more than one Michelin LTX, but the way the ones I've seen worked in less than ideal conditions, I wouldn't run them on anything but a pavement pounder.

I have a set of Mastercraft courser on my dually. They were a better price than the "big name" tires and I am happy with them. Hauled some fairly big loads with them. No problems.

I saw a set of those on a customers truck last Saturday and I thought they were a nice looking tire but hadn't ever heard of those so of course I was a little hesitant to research them. If I'm not mistaken I think Cooper makes those.

I currently have Cooper Discovered ATP tires on my Duramax. I can't speak for all Cooper truck tires, but these are very loud for an A/T. Traction and wear is great, but I won't be buying another set. I'll be switching over to General Grabber AT2 tires when the time comes.

May I ask why you are gonna go with the General Grabber AT2's? Nice looking tire and seem to be priced very reasonable. I want a tire that is a happy medium between a highway tire and these BFG All Terrains I have now.

That is what I put on my dually. No regrets ever. Much smoother and quieter ride than the original tires.

Basically the same tire as the BFG All-Terrain, which everyone loves, but at a much better price. My dad has had the General Grabber AT2 on two different pickups now and has been happy with them so I thought I'd give them a try.

The Cooper Zeon is supposed to be a very good tire, and the new Cooper XT4 looks very nice, but I'm worried about road noise with more Cooper's as the ones have now are loud!

More aggressive than you probably want, but the Goodyear Duratrac is an awesome tire, but a pretty steep price.

What's wrong with the bfg's? I have ran them on my power stroke for 90,000+ changed them about 70,000. They wear great somewhat decent traction off road. The only negative thing I can they are rock slingers. A buddies wife runs a pilot car and swears by the bfg's on her f150 and smruns all highway miles. It's totally your preference but I really like the bfg's

Too agressive of tire for what I'm going to use the truck for. I've owned trucks for almost 20 years and I've never been a big fan of the agressive tires. I'm sure these BFG are a very fine tire, just not my personal preference.

When I had my 2000 F-250 Super Duty, it had Firestone Steeltex on it. Those tires lasted up to 93,000 miles before I had to replace them. I've also had good experiences with the Firestone TransForce, which replaced the Steeltex. It's a matter of preference as to which tire will work for you.

I agree with you on the Firestone Steeltex. I put a set of those on my F250 years ago and those suckers were bullet proof. I did everything with that truck and I easily put 65 to 70k miles on those tires when I sold it and I bet they had a good 20k left in them. Easily the best tire I've ever used.

Check into the Nitto CrossTek. Good all around tire, and Made in USA.Ive had 2 sets. The first I only had 12000 miles on when the truck was stolen, but they still looked new! Second set has right at 40000 on them and they are wearing great so far.

The Kelly Springfield Edge that I put on my truck has the same tread pattern as the General Grabber. They don't sing or hum on highway and if you want better ride you can drop pressure or go to a lower load range tire if you don't do a lot of hauling.

I was out and about today and just
happened to be by the dealer so I looked
at the new 2016s and they all had
Michelin LTX on every new truck they
have. Not going to lie, I really really
like the Michelin tire.

Transforce is not even close to the tire the steeltex was. Transforce tires are made out of used bubblegum and don't wear nearly as well. I put Good Year Wranglers on my Dodge dsl. and you have to put it in 4wd if the ground is at all muddy.

I owned a tire shop for 22 years. We did a lot of experimenting with tires over the years. We had several guys pulling new travel trailers all over the USA. LTX Michelin gave better milage than anything else, but the BFG would go in the snow when LTX left the guys stuck. Firestone steel text wore almost as good as LTX for milage.
