Too much for my trailer?

I have an 18' bumper-pull trailer with 3500# axles and I utilize a weight distribution hitch. I would like to haul a Farmall 460 row crop tractor (about 5600# with no added weights). Is this going to push the max weight of the trailer too much? I don't want to possibly damage the trailer. Thanks for any feedback you may have.

Doesn't weigh as much as a pickup. Should be good to go. But their will be someone who thinks a 50000 lb. Lowboy is to small.

You should be okay on axle weights: just so long as trailer framework is strong enough. High speed travel should not be implemented
.

You will be a little over the trailer rating and that will depend what your trailer weighs empty but if you have good tires and brakes and take it easy you should be all right.

Well built car trailer should be about 100lbs per foot. So that gives you 5200lbs capacity on the deck. However, if your coupler and tow vehicle can handle 2000lbs or so of tongue weight you could put a full 7000lbs on the deck.

A 7,000lb trailer can't haul 7,000lbs legally . You have to deduct the weight of empty trail from 7,000lbs and that gives you what you can haul on deck of trailer. If his trailer weighs 2,500lbs he can only haul 4,500lbs. legally.

the trailer will be maxed out but if your careful and your tires are excellent, bearings ect too, it should handle the tractor, now what about the ramps? i have a 18 foot steel bumper pull also and the factory ramps will not handle anywhere near the maximum rated load the trailer can, i have a set of dozer ramps off another trailer i borrow when i need them, also what is pulling all of this rig? nothing less than a 1 ton dually i hope

Weight ratings are figured by adding axle capacity and coupler capacity and subtracting empty trailer weight. So with an equalizer you should have 7,000+1,000 for the coupler minus what your trailer weighs. There is a lot of difference in empty weights for trailers. Make sure your tractor is not too wide as well, you likely have 83" width unless your trailer is full width. Weight wise you will be maxed but should be ok.

When I first got into tractor pulling I hauled 6300 lbs of tractor on a 7000gvw trailer and only had about 400lbs tonque weight. Yea not that smart but it worked.

Thanks for the feedback. I had not thought about the weight that would be on the hitch; I was only considering the capacity of the axles. I'm now feeling better about hauling the 460 but will still be sure take it easy.

You got that right...If heavy loads destroyed 7000 lb car trailers, then mine would have been gone many years ago....Its 30 years old and still going strong with no major problems....I once hauled a 22-36 McCormick on steel 6 miles on it....I also hauled a 460 Farmall 230 miles home on it....I always took the back roads and kept the speed down..The bearings were checked and packed often on it..
