Appalachian Dump Trailer

In my area used dump trailers are rusted out junk and/or grossly overpriced. For what people usually want for a 10 year old dumper, I can get a brand new Appalachian.

I've done some research on the Appalachian brand and it seems like nobody has had any substantial problems with the trailers. There's a lot of "you get what you pay for" statements made, but never any reports of problems with the trailers. The biggest complaint is paint, but for $2500, I can buy a lot of paint.

I don't plan on using the trailer heavily, it's just something handy to move brush, firewood, a few loads of gravel, maybe a load of scrap steel, and my neighbor's compact backhoe.

Anybody with direct experience with their dump trailers?

They also offer a cash discount. Any ideas on how much that might be?

Find out what the dump angle is, less than 45? will mean kicking out a fair amount of things. Also check
the floor and side thickness, neither of those is listed either. Less than 12ga on the sides is too thin,
10ga forthe floor. 7 ga on the floor is better.

i bought a 14 ft doolittle master dump a few years ago. great trailer. 14k gvw. trailer has on board battery charger, wireless remote dump, and also a cable with button dump controls. trailer came with tarp, skidsteer loading ramps and a 3 way tail gate . was about 7500 out the door. this has a scissor type cylinder lift. avoid the dual cylinders, if you are loaded crooked, you can bend the rams when unloading. heres a couple pics.

I don't have experience with their dump but I am on my second Appalachian gooseneck. Most all negative comments come from fans of PJ trailers or similarly overbuilt trailers.
App trailers aren't built as heavy as a PJ. To me, that's just fine. I don't want a heavy trailer when empty. I usually have my trailer loaded to capacity every time I move it. So far both have been good to me. I had a 35' gooseneck deck over 17k. I sold it and got a 24' 12k. The 35' was too long. I sold it for $4500 and bought a brand new one for $4600.....and a 12 hour drive round trip.
I think they are adequate for most tasks. Good looking welds, the wiring on the new one looks good. The older ones had shotty wiring. The paint is an issue on a lot of trailers out there.
Cant beat the price of an Appalachian trailer.

I've priced other brands and they run anywhere from $6500-$7500 for the same features as the $5000 Appalachian.

If I was using it to make a living I would probably go for a better brand but this is just for light-duty occasional use. There is just no way I can justify paying these crazy prices for used, abused, rusty old trailers.

I wouldn't even hesitate to load a mini excavator on or just about any piece of equipment that weighs 10,000 lbs or less.
