Hauling a SUPER C

I'm moving My super C from my parents house to mine and was looking at hauling it on a U-Haul car trailer, it's a wide front so I was thing I could make the width narrow to fit the trailer. But the tractor has a mower on IHC Mower on the back and the wheel base may be to long for the trailer. Has anybody every used a U-Haul trailer to move a small tractor?

U-Haul car trailers are rated for max load 0f 5,290 lbs. and some U-Haul rentals will not rent to you if they know your hauling a farm tractor. Depending on how your Super C is set up a Super C can weigh up to as much as 5,000lbs.. You might want to find 10,000lb. deck over to use.

It's just the plane wide front with no attachments other than the mower and that doesn't necessarily need to go.

IH data shows a Super C to weigh around 3,000 pounds so doubt one would be over 4,500 pounds or so with filled tires, wheel weighs,
implement (cultivator, etc.) on the front bolster and an implement on the fast hitch if so equipped. Of more concern to me would be
having proper fastening points for chains, etc. for tying down during transport and width between fender wells on the trailer for tire
clearance. I could easily widen out the rear wheels on my Super C so they would not fit between the fenders on my trailer with 82 inches
of clearance. Don't tell U-Haul you are hauling a farm tractor or you will be looking for another place to rent a trailer.

Its not likely to weigh over 5000lbs unless the tires are loaded. How far are you hauling it? If its only a few miles just drive it.

Check the U-Haul site to estimate your cost to rent a car hauler. I think the basic rental allows you up to 3 or 4 days use and 400 miles before extra charges kick in. On trucks the extra mileage charge was about $1/mile, I don't remember the extra mileage charge for trailers. For 700 miles one way, the one way rental might cost much less.

Myself, I wouldn't use a U-Haul car hauler. You can probably rent a trailer designed for the job for for less money. If you don't need to make the trip yourself, you could be ahead to hire a trucking firm to move it for you. Check the hauling schedule in the left hand margin of this page (under the Community heading).

U... I think you'd have to put 2000# of ballast on a C to make it weight 5000#

there just aint alot to these tractors, even with wheel weights and loaded tires.

They are a whole lot less than a ford N.. and a ford N is a long ways away from 5000#

My NF makes a SMALL weight difference. the front axle ain't 2000#

I don't know anyone but Uhaul that will rent a trailer for a one-way trip like that, WITHOUT also forcing you to rent a truck.

Last I checked, Hertz/Penske had car hauler trailers to rent but you also had to rent one of their trucks to pull it.

Years ago, I hauled a Super A with a loader on a Uhaul car trailer. Uhaul car trailers are not flat decked. They have two tracks for the car wheels to sit in, and the middle is wide open. Your tractor needs a minimum of 36" between the wheels to fit into the rails.

The main thing is Uhaul wants to know what you will be hauling with their trailer. They will not accept "tractor" last I checked. It's one thing to lie to them for a short local haul, but for a 700 mile trip, the likelihood of you having an issue on the road is much greater, and when roadside assistance comes to fix the trailer, they will not be amused to find a tractor sitting there instead of a 1970 Plymouth 'Cuda.

Have hauled tractors using U haul trailers, a B 414 International, told them it was a
International pick up, and a TEO Ferguson became a Ford pick up. The front wheel hold
down straps just fit the 16 in tires on both tractors, and chains and binders on the rear.
Worked well.
