trailer rebuild

I bought this trailer used about 5 years ago and I have put a LOT of miles on it hauling home tractors and hauling tractors to and from shows. The time has come to do some needed repairs. It needs brakes, again, one brake drum is damaged and needs to be replaced, one spring is broken and the equalizers are SHOT. The dovetail had angle iron welded to it several inches apart which I never liked. You had to be careful walking on it or your foot could slip down in the gap and was not so nice to drive steel wheeled tractors on it. I decided now is the time to cut off all that angle iron and bolt 2" oak planks to the dovetail instead.

looks good! you might want to lay some type of expanded metal on the dovetail just from experience loading or unloading on wood that is wet from rain ect is a puckering experience, even more so if the something is steel wheeled or tracked
