trailer advice

Looking to buy a new trailer to haul a couple of narrow front fords. Any suggestions on what to buy I have a 3/4 ton dad has a half ton. They are about 79 inches wide. Looking at what they call a skid steer trailer but they are only 83 inches wide. I want to cross noses so they will both fit.

Most all car or skid loader trailers are only going to give you 83" or so between the fenders. If you need more than that, you have to get a deckover. As for what to get, really depends on the length and weight of the tractors and what you want.

here's some on a semi trailer . Going to be about the same thing. This is a 48Ft trailer.

I have a beaver tail deck over, works for tractors or big bales, I could put a couple of 35-45HP tractors on it and hauls 8 big bales.

If your tractors are 79" wide why won't the 83" trailers work? They will be easier to load and lower and more stable on the road. But a deckover is also good and is more versitile for other things. Here is a pick of 2 larger tractors on a 25' deck.

If you are hauling two tractors at the same time get a deck over gooseneck trailer that is at least 8' wide, with at least 14,000lb GVW.

I think a low pro file deck over in a bumper pull or goose neck in a 14,000 lb. would work. It also doesn't cost much more to go to a 102" wide and get the third flip up ramp or full ramp that goes full width of trailer. This is my PJ 14,000 lb. 24 foot 102" wide low pro file (31" of ground) with third ramp.

I have a 20 foot car hauler 83" between fenders and haul 2 farmall 340's with no trouble they are set at 80" wide and weigh about 5k each if I need to haul more I have a flat bed on my truck and put implements on it .

2 NF fords?

get a deckover and back one on, then pullthe next one on, overlapping the noses.

are these like ford 900's? If so a 14k gn will do it easy..

Ya one is a 950 the other 961. Thinking about a bumper pull so my dad could pull at least one with half ton

For now all I haul is one tractor. This trailer weighs 4,200 lbs. empty and tractor weighs 6,900 lbs. going to show or 8,000 lbs. if going to a pull.

if you go bumper pull, you may have a hard time finding a single trailer that will fit both tractors, and certaintly not with a half ton.

My 24 ft.14,000 lb. bumper pull deck over has a 21 ft. deck and you could haul two narrow front tractors on it. PJ makes up to 26ft. bumper pull trailers in a 14,000 lb. deck over trailer. You could haul one tractor if was a 1/2 ton heavy duty four wheel drive truck and maybe two depending on the weight of tractors.

I looked at used trailers for about year before I bought a new trailer. If I found a good used trailer that needed no work on it it was only $500.00-$600.00 less than a new trailer. I found that a lot of used trailers that they said were in good shape needed tires, brakes, and other problems. If your looking for a used one I hope you can find a good one at a fair price.

PJ also makes a low profile 14k 102 wide trailer. I have the 20' Gooseneck version of this one. http://www.pjtrailers.com/detail.cfm?ID=B8

I looked at the gooseneck when I bought mine (102" 24FT. 14,000lb. low profile bumper pull) and gooseneck trailer weighs 500 lbs. more than bumper pull.

I have a 20K GN, 108 x 34' over all with a 10' hyd tail. I haul 2 Bs and a L or 330 on the tail. The hyd tail is very nice. I also have a 96 x 53' drop deck with a 5' dove tail with fold over ramps. I can get 1 on the top and 3 large and 1 small on the main 42' but the ramps create problems.

i have a bumper pull trailer that is 83" between the fenders and eighteen feet long and we haul two farmall m's at a time with it. it is a fourteen thousand pound trailer. there is plenty of room to spare.

A 20' like this would be plenty for two NF tractors. Get too long with a bumper pull and they take a lot of room to make corners. I have a 22' PJ bp and extended cab dually and get into some hairy spots once in awhile. I've gotten pretty good at backing up.....those tall ramps help!

Two ford 900 series row crops would fit just fine on a 83 inch equipment trailer (skid steer type). 900 ford tractors weigh anywhere from 3300 to 4300, depending on what yours weigh will determine what axles to get ( 2 5k axles or 2 7k axles) probably you need 2 7k axles plus the difference between a 10k equipment trailer and 14k equipment trailer is minimal at most places if you shop around (as little as 300 maybe even less and I am talking same brand like PJ) Plus for the extra money you get better tires, better axles and brakes 6 inch channel vs 5 inch channel the down side is its a couple of hundred pounds heavier as much as 500 pounds not generally a big deal on 3/4 ton truck but every bit helps on half ton which you stated, also like someone else posted two tractors on a half ton is probably too much load even for a newer half ton. Something else to think about the deck over might be more versatile but only you can answer that, if you know you are only going to use it for those two tractors then the equipment trailer will tow slightly easier, load a lot easier and chain down quicker.

Having used both if I can get with equipment style over deck over I would any day of the week for the ease of loading unloading and chaining.
