last night had a brain f**t about using up materials on hand to build several gooseneck trailers for our own use. Why not use detachable tongues setup like on a detachable lowboy semi trailer? I need gondola trailers, not flatbeds. Perhaps steel sides permanently welded on,no actual frame except in the axle area. Use latches like a detachable lowboy, only 3inches thick. salvage semi trailer landing gear on the trailer part and folding latches on the tongue to hold it up when switching trailers. Electric brake on dual tandem axles with 17 inch wheels. springs mounted to a center pivot point to allow dumping. hoist mounted to gooseneck, haul 10K-15K;20 feet long cargo area. Feasible if I don't have to buy steel? pull with class 8 tandem tractor. Please read 3-4 times before knocking idea, other ideas welcome. I have numerous sheets of quarter,5/16 and 3/8 that have no market and this could burn through the pile in several trailers.
