Towing gooseneck with RV 5th wheel hitch

Just traded trucks, and the "new" one came with a barely used Curt Q24 RV style 5th wheel hitch. Always used B&W ball style in the past, but these are a lot easier to hook up. I'm considering converting my trailer to use with this hitch. I pull a lot of weight, occasionally a bit over the 24,000 capacity of this hitch. Anyone have experience with this?

I have a Curt claSS v 16,000 LB. bumper pull and it so far is a good hitch. If your iffy about the weight capicity of hitch B&W makes a dual jaw 25,000lb. and Reese makes a 30,000 lb dual jaw. The only thing about the reese is you use no rails it's fastened directly to frame.

Been using a Rees 5th wheel hitch for 4 or 5 years now. It rocks both fore and aft and side to side so there is no stress on the frame. Before that, I had a goose neck. I will not go back to a goose neck. I think I paid about $ 100 for the plate to convert the trailer to 5th wheel hitch.

I use one in my truck and it rides so much better than the goose neck ball. 3 tractors 30' trailer and a crew cab 4x4 diesel gross weight 34,500 lbs.

Super Trucker, what hitch are you using? My normal load most summer weekends is two tractors at 19,000 lbs, plus the weight of a 40' PJ hydraulic tail. Scales at 37,200. Trailer plus tractors should be right at 28,000. I'm sure there's some safety factor built into the hitches, and I'm a mild driver, just don't know how far I can push this hitch.

some states view fifth wheel plates in totally different category as ball hitch at weigh stations or dot stops.
