Tandem Duals

Im looking at getting a new gooseneck with tandem dual 10K axles with elec/hydraulic disk brakes.
I currently have 8K axles with drum brakes. and I have had 7K axles with drum brakes also. Does anyone run the elec/hyd disk set up with tandem duals? I was wondering if they pull as hard as the duals with drum brakes? Or how hard they pull in general or in comparison to anything. I really hate to buy a trailer im not happy with
I have my CDL and am registered/insured properly so theres no issues there.

Tandem duals pull fine. I have no experience with disc brakes on a trailer personally, nor electric over hydraulic. I have friends that have them and they say they will not switch back to drum brakes. If I bought a new trailer it would have disc brakes with electric over hydraulic.

I had a tandem dual gooseneck and it pulled fine , but they are built heavier empty weight is more so that alone pulls harder.
It had electric drum brakes. Never really seemed like enough brakes. You could feel them helping ? but I'd rather have more brakes ! If I get another I'd like to try something else for brakes.

Used to know a guy who hauled a lot of equipment. Said he went through several controllers before he found one that could handle running the electro/ hydraulic pump. But he claimed he could flat spot the tires with a Magnum on the deck.

I have a tandem dual that I pull with my Super duty with 6.0. If you try to stop with the trolley, just driving down the road, it doesn't feel like it brakes very well. However, when you really have to stop, the controller apparently applies the brakes much harder because both times when I thought, Oh Oh, I'm going to hit him! I stopped in plenty of time.

Chances are your SD has the indash factory controller. You set the controller for the maximum brake pressure wanted (based on load; road conditions, etc...). It applies additionl current to the trailer as you apply more pressure to the pedal. There were some of the old controllers that hooked into a brake line rather than the brake lights. Worked the same way. (b/4 the days of anti-lock and ll those worthless computers)

Chris I see that I am getting to this late. The electric over hydraulic you will love. The disc brakes not so much. They stop well but they also drag more than the drum brakes. So if you are doing longer highway miles they will heat up. I do mean heat up. My last trailer had them. I blew tire on the trailer several times before I figured out what it was. They drag just a little bit. The dual wheels seem to hold the heat in around the rotor. This causes the tires to get hot.

I replaced that trailer with a 2014 one with electric over hydraulic drum brakes. It does not get as hot and pulls easier. The disc brake seemed to drag more.
