1990 Chevy C3500 Cab/Cassis Brake Light Problems

I have a 1990 Chevy C3500 Cab/Chassis that has a 2 horse box on the back. I cannot get my brake lights to come on when I push the pedal. It has a single red lamp that has a dual filament bulb in it for parking/turn/brake. The parking works fine and the bright filament on the bulb works fine with the hazards or turn signal, but it will not light up with the brake pedal. Since there is only 1 wire that goes to that filament of the bulb and it works through other circuits, am I correct in thinking that it is something in the cab causing the problem? I tried adjusting the brake switch and it still didn't work. I have taken the brake switch off and adjusted it on the bench and moved it back and forth, but still cannot get anything from the brake lights. Does anyone know which pins to check on the switch for opening and closing as the switch is moved? Also, I read something about the turn signal switch causing problems like this. Any help is much appreciated!

I had a 96 Chevy the brake light switch on the peddle went bad, did the same thing might try a ohm meter to see if the switch is good? Also might see if the brake light fuse is ok ( maybe you already did this, I tend to over look the simple things sometimes.)

First thing to check is fuse. If you have the handy fuse box in the end of dash panel, it should be #1, closest to windshield in top row. Location is marked inside the cover. Oops, just re read your post. Fuse panel should be above your left toe.
Next check for power at brake switch . According to my manual, orange wire is power from fuse, white wire feeds to turn signal switch.
If the white wire shows power when pushing the pedal, turn signal switch is bad.

Thanks for all the help! Problem ended up being the big flat wire harness connection on the steering wheel had gotten pulled slightly on one end and the brake light must be the last contact on that end of the connection. Pushed it back together and it all works perfectly!

Thanks again!
