2015 Motor Trend truck of the year

Looks like they chose the Chevy Colorado mid-size truck. Dodge abandoned that size to Toyota and Nissan and don't remember Ford having anything in the mid-size range as the ranger would be light-duty?

I don't understand the concept of "mid-sized". It might be smaller, but it will still take up the same amount of space in your garage or in the parking lot, and I really doubt the fuel mileage is any better than a full sized Silverado, so what's the point?

have them both, depends on what you use box size for, also, mid-size isn't any cheaper with insurance company's,,, but each to their own liking..

I guess if you stayed with the smaller cab, the smaller vehicle might appeal to some, like my wife.

She had an old Jeep Cherokee she really liked. But she used it like a truck, and the four wheel drive was not dependable. So I bought her something with a small pickup box. But we still wanted something with four doors. When I found this four door 2006 Colorado, in the right color- I bought it! Problem is it takes more room to turn around than my Silverado, and I think it burns MORE gas than my Silverado. It's leaving this summer.

The Dakota was noticeably larger than the rest of the small trucks. Including the first Colorado/ canyon. All the big 3 were out of it for several years. Half ton trucks are getting the same milage and can actually be used as a truck.

I could see it being the " truck of the year" if it was one he!! of a good seller and this was December but we're not even a month in to 2015, I don't get how these companies can boast these awards!

In our pickup talk at the coffee shop. No one has even mentioned a Colorado. Most of us presumed Chevy had quit making them. Most of the talk is whether a new 2015 Aluminum F150 is worth 10000 more than a 2014. Or how stupid you would be to still have or worse yet to buy a 6.0 or 6.4 F250 diesel. No talk of Chevys

The magazine asks the manufacturers for a test unit
for any new or highly revised model or new engine/
drive train to run through their own test loop, then
compare interiors.
Has nothing to do with sales numbers and public
opinion or even real world reliability.

I never really put much faith in Motor Trend's awards after the Chevy Monza made "Car of the Year" in the mid-1970's. I think the Mustang II was also a "Car of the Year".

ctually, the later Rangers would be a mid size. My 2001 I used to own, and the 2011 I now own were rated for a 5700 pound trailer. A V6 half ton with 3 speed is only rated for 3500. I guaranty however, I would not want to pull that size trailer without brakes on all axles.

I heard a few weeks ago that the bailout is all payed back plus a big profit! That was right from the horses mouth. However I don't believe a word of it. Figures don't lie but liars can figure.

Actually I for one was happy to see GM come back with a real "Midsize" PU including offering a V8 option. The Dodge Dakota has been the perfect compromise pickup that we've always used as our second car and 1/2 ton PU combo that fits in our older detached 1 car garage. If you count my 2006 Mitsubishi Raider which was really a Dakota "in drag", I've owned 5 Dakotas. My current one is a 2011 crew cab V6 (Technically a "Ram Dakota")and will need to replaced sometime. I've always been a Mopar Guy, but this new Colorado could chum me into a Chebby show room. Kip
