I got my '06 Superduty up on jack stands a couple days ago for in depth inspection. I opened up the spots of primary interest. These are the channels stamped into the inner fender wells, that catch water and hold it causing the outer wheel wells to rust through in usually about seven years if you are in the rust belt. I ground a drain slot in each one on the right side and found them clean and dry. With the rear wheels off I got a better look at the body floor crossmembers. most were in very good condition, but two on each side were rusted through where the metal is doubled up. I peeled off the outer layer and sawed holes out at the bottom of the offending side so that moisture can not be held in there. Overall it appears that my rust prevention work is working very well.
