Wisconsin scales

I'll be going across Wisconsin soon with my pickup
(5300 lb), car trailer and small tractor (probably
4500 lb combined), so my GCVW will be around 9800 lb
or so. I've heard Wisconsin requires any truck over
4 ton (8000 lb) to go through their scales. Is this
correct for a strictly private, non-commercial
vehicle such as mine?

I have a chart on all states and you are right about Wisconsin. If you have your load balanced right and chain or straped down good they will most likely flag you through with no problems.

Brad I used the computer and Yahoo search. I typed in Weigh Stations AAA-CAA Digest of Motor Laws, It has a section for us and one for canada.

Where are you going in WI and what route? If your going from Rockford IL to MN by way of I-90 the only scale you have is at The Beloit/Janesville area That is the only scale from there to The SD line on 90. The old Stoughton scale got replaced with this new one. If you want a short nice secnic drive go through Clinton WI on WI-140 to Us 14 that will bring you out north of that scale right on the north side if Janesville. there are ways around the scale on hwy 41 and I-94 they are more complicated though. If you are going on a weekend they will most likely be all closed anyway.
