Four point tie downs

Fellas,
My understanding is four point tie on tractor but attached plow only requires a tie down or does it need four points also?

Or if it has steel wheels or tracks it needs 4. The plow can have 1 if it's attached to the tractor or else it needs 2.

I view it this way: You will NEVER regret having too many tie-downs; not having enough can be embarrassing and expensive. I would much rather an enforcement officer come alongside me and be impressed with my dedication to safety than question it. ( and locally; we are told that ANY rolling stock needs 4-point; and a loader requires one also.)

Equipment on tracks or wheels UP TO 10,000 lbs need 4 point tie down. after that you gotta figure weight and have 80% pullin back 50% pullin forward 50% sideways and 50% pullin down.Stop by a truckstop and get you a copy of FMCSA tie down rule book.

Walt: I did not get that involved but you are correct; AND; strength or capacity of chains or straps must exceed the weight of item being secured. Again; I do not think a person can have to many; too few is a disaster looking for a place to happen

That first picture looks good to go. The H is secure, the plow is attached to the tractor so it can't move, and then a strap over the plow to keep it secure to the trailer. I would feel good about going anywhere with that trailer.
