Truck hitch

Just bought a one ton truck with this pintle hitch on the back, I want to replace it with a 2" receiver. Is the correct thing to do to remove the 4 bolts and bolt on a receiver. What is the capacity of that kind of hitch?
Thanks

I'm not aware of any bolt on receiver hitches that will work there. You can get a pintle that has a ball on it and will bolt on to use as a ball hitch tho. They come with 2" or 2 5/15" balls. If you want a receiver hitch you will have to weld in a receiver tube.

Try (www.AWDIRCT.COM ) out of Wisconsin they have the bolt on 2" to replace the pintle bolt on. Its hard to find them on their site and would be easier to call them. There is another site (wwwJACKSALL.com) that has them but is in China.

Why not just add the receiver below the pintle hook so you could use them both.
The pintle will handle much more weight than the receiver hitch will by far.

there is a direct bolt on hitch which will replace that pintle, it has the same bolt pattern and will accept all popular 2 inch reciever ball mounts, its around 60 bucks, and most good auto parts stores stock them, or can get them overnite, that way you have the option to return the pintle hitch to use by simply taking 4 bolts loose if you rever need it
that was probably used to pull a pretty good tag along trailer, and it should be enough for any reasonable trailer you would want behind a 1 ton truck
