20 + 5 goosneck trailer in the near future

Anyone own a Rice trailer and whats your experience with them? Looking at a new trailer, single tandems, pop-up dove tail, double landing gear. Looks to be constructed fairly stout but I have heard concerns about powder coated equipment trailers.

Powder coat does not work well on a trailer. That said, I have managed to keep mine from getting too bad with phosphoric acid. It will penetrate under the plastic where it has started to separate, and stop the rust. Then a little black paint over it will seal it.

I saw a rice trailer. Looked stout to me if I remember correctly.
Just make sure your trucks GVW and trailers GVW wont exceed 26000 unless you have a CDL or Farm plates....

If the rice trailer is like the new ones, it looks much like my Appalacian trailer. Only difference is mine is 10 feet longer. 20+5 should be able to fit 2 tractors on easily and maybe you could fit 3 on if you got fancy.
Some people think you should get the stoutest heaviest trailer you can find and anything else is sub-par.
I believe you should get a trailer thats stout enough, that way your not hogging up your GVW with just empty trailer. My gooseneck weights between 4-5000 lbs and has a payload of 12000 lbs ending up with a GVW of 17000. It is stout enough. But sitting next to a PJ, one might say the PJ is a bit beefier.

What brand of trailer do you have and how long before it started to rust out?
The trailers I own now are all enamel painted and have fared OK over the years being that they sit out 24-7. I see more and more trailers, including some premium brands, that are powder coated but I hear if the trailer flexes the powder coat cracks.

My App is a 2006 model. Has some minor surface rust here and there. I'll probably hit it with a few cans of black rustoleum. Its 31+4, they dont make this model anymore.

I wouldn't say that the powder coat on my PJ cracks where it flexes it is mainly just scratches and corners where the coating was apparently a little thin. Mine is probably '05 or'06 and it still looks good but I keep after it.

I do not have a rice trailer. I do have a 20+5 PJ that is 7 or 8 years old, with triple ramps. It is powder coated and other than the deck having oil stains on it, the trailer looks like I picked it up yesterday.

I have the new Rice on order. Dealer sells PJ, Rice, Loadmax, Delta and their own custom made brand. I also sprung for a B&W disappearing ball as the one in the F350 I traded off was always in the way. Pretty decent guy, installing the hitch Friday and said the keys were in his truck if I needed to use it.
