Anybody got an HS skidloader trailer? Axle questions-

I bought a mid 90s 12' skidloader trailer for a little bit of nothing
a couple weeks ago. When I bought it and pulled it out of the
snowbank, I noticed that the rear axle sat higher than the front,
and when I got it home and looked at it, it was obvious why:
the front axle is a straight axle, and the rear is a drop.
Somebody"s changed one of them, but I"m not sure which. The
straight looks newer, but I think the drop is correct. If it is, should
it be over or under the spring?

It would have had drop axles if it's what I'm thinking it is.

Once you get into it, you will be able to tell if the axle should be over or under the spring. You want it to sit as low as possible and still have fender/frame clearance.

For most of those trailers the axle will be above the spring, but they can go either way. Measure from the top of the axle to where it would hit the frame, you will need that much above the tires to the fender. That will tell you if you need the drop or straight axle. I would guess that the originals were drops because if they were straight then the drop axle would hit the fender. Pics would tell the story tho.
