Kinda off the subject, but I need some advice. I am looking at two different used plows. One is a 9 ft Hiniker poly trip edge straight blade, and the other is a 8.5 ft Hiniker V blade. both appear to be in great shape and priced close to the same money(poly plow is a few years newer)

Plow is going on a 04 F-250 v-10. I only plow my own driveway and the neighbors, but we do drift pretty good in our area.

I guess my biggest concern is the additional weight of the v plow (almost 1000# with the mount, 150# heavier than the poly straight blade)

Whats your thoughts.. Thanks in advance. Andy

is the truck going to notice the difference of a 150#,, main question is, with stright blade, can you change angle, pitch of blade to move snow in any direction you want,, does the v-plow adjust angles to move, compaired to stright blade????

it would depend on what kind of snow fall your going to recieve in your area, if your in the northeast where you have heavy snowfall and deep drifts nothing beats a v plow for punching thru that stuff the problem with a v plow is after you make your first pass you have only one half of the plow width to finish clearing the snow to the sides, a straight plow with power angle will easily handel a few feet at a time of snow and some deeper drifts if your at maximim angle ive plowed some drifts with the one i had that i wouldnt have bet anything i could have got thru, all provided you have enough truck behind it which you should with your truck here

I have not seen every brand of vplow but the ones that I have seen can be put straight and used just like a regular plow. I seen one that you can make it more like a bucket and push snow in a pile.

I would go with the v plow. I have had several different plows and if I get another one it will be a v. The v will do everything the poly will do and more, it only takes one big storm to make drifts that will make you appreciate the v plow. Just my opinion, Brian.
