Look at beans diesel performance for there injector driver module. It's the silver box mounted on fender behind the air box by firewall. Much more responsive on the throttle so I didn't have mash on it to get going. And a big honken air cleaner. What I had on my blue and white truck .

[Had] a 2011 Ford diesel reg cab, pulling trailer 7/8 MPG empty usually 65+ 10/11M.P.G had a 21 gal tank.Every body else claimed 14+ but I did not.The older trucks Cummings and PowerStroke both got excellent mileage before all the anti pollution and computer technology.I know several that changed everything and increased power and mileage but I trade every year for about $.15 a mile so I live with what I have.

That mileage seems a bit high. My best ever with my 2wd 1997 cummins was 25 all highway going 60mph. Best EVER.
Getting 27 mpg out of a powerstroke has to be some kind of record.

i agree.

my 99 350 drw, 4.10 gears 4x4, hauling 3 tool boxes, 5w40 syn oil.. makes 15 city.. maybee 17.5 hwy.

my 04 250 6.0 4x4 3.73 rear 1 tool box 5w40 syn oil , upgrade air box, mild tuning can make, 15-16 city, and 19 hwy ( pulling an unlaoded 16' trailer.. ~ 2200# etc. if i keep my foot out of the turbo.

,my 99 450 drw, hauling bed and 3 tool boxes, aux 50g fuel tank, 19.5" tires, 4.88 rear, pulling about 5000# unlaoded gooseneck will make about 15 city or hwy. Sweet fuel spot is 67-72mph. if I pass that, fuel eco starts diving... especially if loaded. I pulled a 12k load out of south florida.. tall passanger van..e tc.. and was making 75 ish on the interstate.. economy dropped to like 9... ;)

70 and under for that old girl.. .. otherwise she eats too much....

ps.. I'm suspicous of any MPG #'s after a tuner is used. I have a feeling they use some fuzzy hash to skew the #'s. I always do tank fill and miles travelled to get a real idea...

Got 2 7.3 engines
one is a non Turbo, IDI, 1994, F350 DRW, 4x4, best I can ever squeeze out of her is 11.
2000 F250 SRW, 4" exhaust, tuner and K&N AF, get about 14 around town, about 16-17 on highway, with RPMs kept under 2K, drops a couple MPG over 2K RPM.

You'd need a really soft foot to get that out of a truck with all the aerodynamic attributes of a brick. Might be possible with a very soft foot, short-shifting, and a steady top speed of 60. My 90 Cummins has done an estimated 23 or so (speedo and odometer read way slow) on the interstate with a new fan clutch and topping out at about 70. I would definitely check at the pump and not go by what a built-in guess-o-meter or the tuner are telling me.

I agree that must be a new powerstroke record. My 05 automatic 6.0L w/ cold air intake, SCT tuner (on street setting), MBRP exhaust, and rolling on 35x12.5x20 tires only gets me 15 Hwy and 10 pulling a trailer. I would kill for anything around 20 mpg.

I used the tank fill and miles traveled. I double checked my odometer with the route on mapquest. I'm hoping to do a well documented test next summer after a couple improvements. I can't get much over 20mpg doing 70mph. It likes 55-60mph. doing 65-70mph with an 8X20 grain ox on the gooseneck trailer got me 8mpg in windy flat cold Illinois. The worst I've ever got!

I don't have a tuner that actually tells me anything, just a program that a buddy puts on chips at his diesel shop. I used the odometer and the pump. I also checked my odometer my route on mapquest. VERY light in the foot, although I did pass a couple slower cars. The last trip included my 275# buddy and some back roading therough the woods this fall. It was about 25mpg when we filled up.

I don't believe it. If those figures were accurate - you've probably got a world-record breaker.

My 1985 Isuzu mini-truck with a 2.2 liter diesel gets 27-28 MPG.

I've driven and owned many 7.3 diesels in Ford trucks. The best MPG I ever got on a slow highway cruise (55-60 MPH) at a low altitude on a flat road with no wind was 19.5 MPG. That with a 5 speed OD trans and a 3.5 axle ratio.
