Cost to transport plow

I am looking at buying a plow located just south of Green Bay
Wisconsin. It is a 3 bottom full mount plow. It is approximately
500 miles from my house in Ohio. Does anyone have an idea
on what someone might charge to haul it for me? I am trying to
decide if I should make the trip, or pay someone to bring it to
me.

Yea mean to tell me that you can NOT FIND a plow here in Ohio ?? good grief .I'll bet ya i can . Just what kind of plow are ya looking for . It is not what you know but who you know .

It"s a White 348 auto reset in very good condidtion. I have been looking for a while, and got a good deal on this one. Even with transport it will be less than the prices I have seen on the same plow (spring trip or auto reset). Your right about who you know...maybe I dont know the right people.

Try hauling schedule on left .You might be surprised if someone happens to be coming your way.Usually a loaded semi charges around$3.50/to $4 a loaded mile.

Give Judy Green a call at TRi Green equipment . They may have one at the lot and i do know that at one time she use to go to Wis. and buy and i do believe they have a lot in Wis. Ya als may want to talk to Mike Lozier at Countyside and ask Mikey . If i was still running the Sale trail i'll bet ya i could find one in a couple weeks . Now as far as having one trucked that far it's going to cost ya way more then your going to want to spend even if it is a fill out. Trucking has become expensive . and the days of a buck a mile freight are long dead and gone. Fuel taxes permits , plates ware and tare . Use to be we could get a oversized load hauled for two bucks a mile . Use to get a yearly oversize permit for ag equipment for chump change , not nomore each load has to be permitted . at one time ya did not need a permit for anything 10 foot or under as long as it was ag or construction or oil field just flags and a blinky light not even signs . and nobody paid much attention to ya . Years back one of the local Vet's wanted a white Oliver 3-4 bottom spring rest semi mount plow and he said he looked and looke and could not fine one and asked me if i knew where one might be at . Told him not off hand but i would look as i was heading out to a couple sales and would be gone for three days . At one of the consignment sales i went to there it was and it went on the load coming home . Called him once i had it boiught and told him that it would be home on Friday and come look at it . Also told him that if he did not like it that was fine by me as by Saturday it would be at a sale and history . He was there Friday morning before i even had it off the trailer . And it was apid for . Told me that it was the nicest plow he had seen . . Now i am not sure where your at in Ohio but ya may want to start getting the Farm and Dairy paper and also the Farm World paper out of Indiana . I know that there are a few around here in use and also to the east of me in Pa. I have seen them at several sales around here from time to time. You may also want to look into a semi mount plow as i have found that the pull easier and you are not carrying all the weight on the tractor. If you can handle three on a three point then you can handle 4 on semi mount .

I appreciate all of the advice. I had already left Judy Green a message. Trigreen had an Oliver 348 spring trip last month, and I was out of town. Saw it was still there Wednesday, and had them call the buyer to see if he would sell it. He had bought it for a customer. I'm just north of Delaware. I wanted a White/Oliver because when I was growing up I plowed with a 5 bottom like it behind a MM G900 on my Grandpa's farm. I bought a MM U302 this summer (because it looks like the G900, but is smaller) to restore. I thought it would be neat to find a White plow to use on my garden, and some small fields behind the U302 (reliving my youth). I thought a full mount would be easier to maneuver in tight areas.

Thanks for everyone's advice and information. I found someone to haul it for a very reasonable price using the hauling schedule. This web site is a wealth of information.

Wilson Farms in OH come over to Milford, IL every month and go up into WI to sales maybe they might haul it for you. 740-694-5071 at Fredricktown.

Hi I live 30 min south of Green Bay and have semis that go to Michigan and Ohio often. I bet we could find room on the back of one. Bill 920 973-6729

A buddy and I make some runs and always looking for an excuse to go to Green Bay area. Usually haul stuff for $1/mi or a little more to compensate for picking up or Chicago tolls.
