Notice quite a price difference in the TSC g70chain and binders vs
E-bay with buy-it-now option. Most I have looked at even ship at
no cost. Is there a difference in quality between them that
warrants the price difference or one as good as the other?

Take your conputor and type in a company called ( US Cargo Control) out of Urbana,IA..If you call them they will give you a price and they handle USA made chain as well as chain from over seas. The US chain is higher priced than the chain from overseas.

Couple of years ago, local Lowes was selling U.S. made DOT cargo chain, Grade 70, 20' lg. with hooks, 5/16, 4700# for $32 each. TSC about a block away was selling foriegn made (big links), same specs for $59 each. I've found TSC to be a store of last resort.

Lowes chain I refer to has 1 link of every 10 or so embossed with "G70" from factory forging and is yellow chromate finished; hooks are "G70" embossed also!

I buy most of my stuff from either Tri-county Tarp or Tarpstop. Tarpstop.com is their site. Tritarp.com is the other Nancy is very good to work with at tricounty tarp. They have both us and across the pond products too.

transport chain and binders is not the place to try and save money, you need to be absoultly sure of what your buying, for example about a dozen years ago a man i know was hauling his dozer on a steel trailer, he had just bought new chain and binders as this dozer was just aquired and he wasnt sure the stuff he had was adaquate, as he went thru a sharp curve,on a narrow 2 lane road, the chain broke, causing the other chains to break too due to the sudden shock of the load shifting the d-6 size dozer slid off the trailer sideways and landed on a suburban going the other way, the man in the suburban did not survive , this man i know, is haunted by nightmares about this incident to this day and probably will be for the rest of his life,he is a good person and as far as i know is well liked by the community, he thought he bought grade 70 chain and it was marked as being such [ attached tag] it obviously was not, its not worth it to not be sure and buy from a reputabale place and get the real stuff, he was also drug thru the court system for years over this,

For like $32 Harbor Freight (I know...) has G70 transport chain in 5/16"x20'. Each link is stamped G70. Seems legit and I have 7 or 8 of them with matching ratcheting binders stamped 5400 lbs. Use a coupon and get them on sale for less.

I don't really shop there much, but was tipped off to the chains by a friend. They are good chains, just sold out most of the time.

as a former low bed driver most of us buy the best! i always bought peerless or campbell transport chains with factory welded hooks. bought new or good used lebus binders. never had been questioned and never had an issue. never carried chain bigger than 3/8" even for 20 ton poclain track hoe. most chains on the truck were 5/16" but also my favorite 9/32" commonly called 1/4". the tip of the day.. don't use a binder on the rear of load to rear of trailer. use all of the chain with the hooks on the chain. pull forward chains to tighten load...........
