U Ship - Would like to look up Completed Shipments

Guys....I am new to U Ship and have seen the quick
quote feature that will find comparable shipments
to what you need. Problem is, it doesn't have a
place to search for the item I am shipping. Only
can search weight and zip codes. If I want to ship
a tractor, I would like to search the historical
completed shipments for that particular tractor.
One of the comparable shipments it gave me was for
a tractor like mine, but I would like to see
others as well. Where on the site could I put a
Item Description in and search??

I don't understand why it has to be *EXACTLY* the same?

An 8000lb tractor is an 8000lb tractor when it comes down to strapping it to a trailer and towing it hundreds of miles.

Shipping is generally quoted by weight and distance, not whether the tractor is red, green, blue, yellow, or orange.

i dont know of any way to do that, but like mentioned tractors ship by weight, all thats important is that the hauler has experience with machinery, and the proper trailer to haul it and the knowledge to secure the tractor to the trailer and be leagle and not damage the tractor either, some do, some have no idea

Other things to think about when shipping or hauling a tractor are HOW WIDE is it , is there any part of said tractor over 8 foot 6 inches wide including how far out the axles stick . Anything over 8 6 is oversized , how tall is it , will it go on a flatbed ?? or will it need to go on a step deck or a RGN . These factors will affect the cost . Will there be a dock at the other end . does it run on it's own power and will it start again once it gets to where it is going ?? Nothing gets a trucker more ticked off then have to mess around getting something dead loaded or unloaded or getting there to load it only to find out that it is oversized and needs a RGN and not a stepdeck and permits up the whazoo . I have in my time hauled more tractors dozers loader and you name it then i care to think about . The ones that really got my dander up were the ones that were not running and ya had to spend hours getting them to run and on the trailer , ya knew it was going to be a bad run the whole trip and when you got to where your going ya had to fight with it to get it off. And therew were times i would drive for three or four hours to get something and i would not load it because they did not tell dispatch the whole truth as it was oversized or totally dead . The other thing is not having a way to unload at the other end .

have any of you actually had anything trucked before. the original poster has a valid question. There are variables the trucker should know about the tractor beyond it's weight. Normally a guy just hauling one tractor on a semi is going to be hauling a few other people's things too on the same trip so it's important to figure out what you have room for.

As the tractor vet said the dimensions are what makes the difference. If it is oversize or not. Nothing like getting there it is supposed to be legal, and then they want you to do it for the same money. An OH permit is $60.00 now alone. So that is the difference.

Yes i have had things hauled and HAULED a lot more . When i had things hauled i knew what was needed to do the job , step deck or combine trailer or a RGN . Plus now today not 15 years ago even a lousy 706 Farmall is and OVERSIZED load by JUST 4 inches . Years back no big deal get it on the trailer and hammer down , AH not today ya need permits and all the goody's to haul in usless you feel real lucky thinking that they will never notice that extra 2 inches sticking out OVER the side on each side.

so your telling me you price your job by the pound? So a 60hp tractor that you could park on the top deck of a 53' step will be the same price as a load that weighs the same but fills the whole trailer. That isn't the way LTL stuff works. If I was trying to fill a load over a decent distance, I am going to want to know height width length, not just pounds. Sorry, just because you have 30 years under you doesn't automatically make you an expert, I deal with enough people to know that.

Not me. If I was a trucker and I was trucking tractors the color would be a big part of pricing. Seem that those with the funny green color with the yeller wheels and the deep red ones have the money to pay more to get their tractors trucked than those with the with the purty green with red wheels, orange and blue ones.

i dont know hauling everything from a farm tractor to a d8 cat frequently,id say i pretty much know what im doing, enough said
