I was looking on youtube today, and seen this came up, its from 2010. And for all who always argue with me on how the hemi has no poser and how the ford 6.2 is so much better. This video shows that the hemi is better loaded/ and unloaded.
And for the ones who will argue still, on how its not 2013, be glad it isn't, the dodge would beat it even worse with there new six speed that wasn't offered in 2010,

Ecoboost isnt junk. It got more low end torque than Toyota, Chevy/GMC, and Ford's own v8's. But, there must be a reason it isn't in 3/4 ton series trucks. My opinion, is it isn't designed to handle long term stress.

Any arguement of a gas versus diesel is a joke. Diesel hp numbers are lower stock than typical gassers. Nothing short of $30,000 will get a gas motor to compete with a diesel in the world of torque. I don't think you can realistically get a gas motor to produce low rpm torque like a diesel. Even Ecoboost F-150's are producing max torque at 2500rpm. Cummins far surpasses that by 1600rpm.

A turbo is perfect for diesels because of the heat but the heat is bad for gassers and to run something like an ecoboost at rated output is gonna burn 'em down pretty quick - I know; I've seen me do it

mj, are you saying that you actually burned down an Ecoboost engine, or did you slap a turbo on an old tractor or car engine with no computer nannys to protect it from getting to hot like the Ecoboost has? Chuck

Nope, Chuck I did not say any of that - What I said was I've burned up stuff that was all modern, digital and 'bullet-proof' before - I just don't believe that you can work that EGO-boost hard enough to be the class leader in torque and h'power and have it live over the long haul; even if the digital hocus pocus works as designed until doomsday THE HEAT'S GONNA GET YOU BEFORE THAT! And by the way, Bucko, I never slapped anything on anything except for a hairlip or two on a couple of guys who should have kept their mouths shut 8)

Why would you pi$$ around with a gasser anyways if you're looking for HP. Duramax or Cummins will easily make 500HP with the flip of a switch. 1000HP easy with a little money and still make a daily driver out of it.

You can get 500hp out of a hemi easy, the hemi has more stock than a diesel. Why would you, because they are a lot cheaper to own than a diesel, you can get 1000hp outta a hemi to it just takes $$$$.

You might as well face it - Anyone who is a fan of Ford has their mind made up - don't confuse them with facts :? I have some from all of the 'Big Three' but when I think about the past 50+ years that I've been driving I've had good and bad vehicles from each. Calling the hemi design old and not up with the times is just ignorant - there must be a reason it's still with us! Ford's Eco-Boost? ....... only time can judge that. :?: You know you've got true believers on your hands when they start running down your spelling or assuming that your Dad is going to write out a check - if I was you I'd let it ride - 'you can lead a horse to water' kind of a deal

I'm with you.....CHevy's and Fords are all JUNK! Dodge is the way to go. We had an '84 1/2 ton lwb with the 318 and automatic. Clocked 296,000 miles on the clock before the transmission went out, then finally parked it at 342,000 when it went out again. Sat in the field about 7 years....some yard helpers wanted to buy it so we put a battery in and some fresh gas....she fired right up. Sold it for $100. That truck was treated ROUGH....it looked like it had been in a demolition derby from the stuff we hauled with it and the stuff we would "Ram" to get around the Farm. Never had any other trouble out of it other than routine maintenance and the alternator.

Have an '02 1500 with the 4.7 litre and a '00 3500 with the Cummins (both auto).
The '02 has around 120,000 miles on the clock and 90% was from pulling small Farmall tractors and heavy machinery (bobcats and diesel tractors). Never a minutes trouble but a couple of oil sending units and regular maintenance. It has the coldest A/C I have ever felt too (and everyone else agrees that rides). The '00 3500 pulls like a champ and will haul some a$$. Now that we have it, the 1500 is getting a bit of a rest. Bought the '00 last Fall with 40,000 miles and now its up to 48,000.
Have owned Fords and Chevys and if the Check Engine Light isn't on bugging you about somthing, they are broke down. Pure cheap junk, and wouldn't buy another one! They were decent trucks, but nothing as tough as a Dodge!

Agreed totally, the fords and Chevies always have dumb stuff going wrong. The dodge you will have something go out very seldom, and usually nothing to major. And I think they have a lot nicer, comfortable interior also.

Why do you keep comparing your 2500 to a F-150? At least compare it to a F-250, V8 to V8. If you are buying an Eco boost you are buying it for economy, not heavy hauling or sound. The Eco-boost was designed to use turbos. Turbos have been used on gas motors for years(Grand National,Porsche,Mercedes, and yes even Dodge cars.) If you are truly proud of the American sound , Why did you buy a Mexican made truck? There is a reason Ford has been the best selling truck for many years.

And not all the dodge trucks are made in Mexico, just some, they are also made in Saint Louis Assembly North in Fenton, Missouri, United States; and Warren Truck Assembly in Warren, Michigan, so there are some made in the U.S. whether you like it or not dodge is an American name. And the hemi is defiantly an American motor.

Watch the video, the hemi, beats the 6.2 f250, yeah cars use turbos, the little 4 bangers, but the hemi is a v8 that puts out 395hp with no turbo. And also don't know why you'd buy a ecoboost, dodge has the best fuel economy, might be a v6 but it gets 25mpg. Might be made in Mexico, but it will have less problems than the ford, and pull more.

i dont think anybody has claimed the hemi doesnt have any power, if so they havent driven one, i think what there claiming is it doesnt have as much low end torque as the diesel, which it doesnt, the hemi makes its power up higher in the rpm band, while its nice to see a hemi back in a production vehicle,im not a blown away fan, as i once owned a car with the legendary 426, and i know what that did, the new ones just dont have the mystique the 426 did, now i admit some of that was the scary factor, having 500 hp,[ any car guy back in the day could easily have a street hemi making 500 hp in a saturday parts swap/tune session] in a car with 1960's chassis knowledge made for a wild ride,as anybody who had one of those can attest, as to why they dont put the engine back out in production cars today, the answer is the epa, the 426 was not a clean air, great mpg engine, it was a go fast engine, a job it did so well that the design dominates motorsports to this day however the government isnt going to sanction anything like the original 426 today for a street production car, of course there still out there via the hot rod builders lol

If they'd build a long-stoke, small-bore motor (like Chevy tends to do) they'd be able to tune it for a lot more bottom-end torque, get the power at a lower RPM, and get better fuel mileage out of it.

Never could figure out that one. "Hey let's make a screaming short-stroke motor, get big power numbers, and tweak our aero info to get high EPA estimates out of it when it doesn't get the mileage of the stuff we were building 25 years ago!!!!"

Suppose to be power, spell check,. And it's a generation three hemi, everyone says, its not the same as the old hemi, well I hope not, why would they put 1960s technology in a 2013 pickup? Next year its gonna be a 6.4 hemi which I can't wait for.

Don't blame it on spell check. You have the chance to preview it. Without the 426 being so legendary, the Hemi name would mean nothing. Every single top fuel dragster uses an engine based on the original Hemi design because of the success of the 426.

No, the videos proof, dodge has a smaller engine that will out run a ford or Chevy, mopar or no car. Someday you'll see the bright side.

"why would they put 1960s technology in a 2013 pickup?" That's actually a really good question. If there is a 6.4 Hemi, I really can't imagine it will be around that long. There's a reason that Ford used direct inject turbo technology. It was because of mileage and emissions. Dodge can only use old technology for so long before they'll be forced to use direct inject/turbos.

Be ready to pull out the pocket book when you put in turbos, you know that's putting a lot of stress on a v6. Not to mention its a v6. Doesn't even sound mean

Why do people have this terrible fear of turbos? How often do they actually go out. I've never regretted have a tractor with a turbo because it may have to be replaced at some point. Why is it alot of stress on a V-6? The 3.7 V-6 shares the block with the 3.5, only it's bored out. The 3.5 also has different heads designed to take the extra stress. And then there's the people that freaking out about how unreliable the 'high-pressure' injection is. It's less than 10% of the pressure of CR diesel systems.

Diesels are made for turbos, not little bitty 3.6s. V6s are for girls or soccer moms espicially the ecoboosts. Most half tons never do any work, there like a mini van. I'm an American, and like the v8 sound and power, I don't like v6s, that's what they run over seas. This is America, and we run v8s, in cars and trucks not v6s.

You do nothing but trash talk the Eco-Boost. It's new technology. Who gives a crap if it sounds like a revvy V-6. It's got more torque than most V-8's on the market, and that's all that really matters. I dislike engines that have to rev to 4500 rpm to hit full torque. The Eco-Boost doesn't have to do that, the 5.7 Hemi does. How many cars do you see with V-8's? The vast majority of regular passenger cars have 4 and 6 cylinder engines. Bigger cars like Impala's and sports cars have v-8's, but a regular car doesn't. You are aware that the sports cars in Eurpoe regularily run v-12's? They're likely laughing at all the V-8's in North America. The Eco-Boost was designed with a turbo in mind. It was built to withstand the power/heat/boost. Your 5.7 has just short of 400hp. That engine would grenade really quick at 600-700hp. The engine was not built to take it. The Eco-Boost is also alot more tune-able in theory as well. The fear of turbos just amazes me. Everybody trusts them on a diesel, but not on a gas.

Come take a ride in my Neighbor's eco-boost, with a free flowing exhaust. It is a extended cab 4X4. And it really pulls hard! Vic

Not to mention. I won't have any repair bills on the hemi either, the ecoboost will tear a hole in your pocket, wait a few years or 100,000+ miles. Your neighbor will be regretting buying it.

And it still sounds like a v6, come take a ride in my hemi. Has a nice v8 rumble, its a 2500 and is a lot more truck. And pulls like a diesel with the 4:56 gears, the ecoboost s ain't gonna come close to it.

His eco-boost may have 500 hp Yes Dodge Hemis do run good, but 2 turbo's are the deal breaker. Take the turbo off a 5.9 Cummins and you will have a max of 150 hp. but have 400 with a turbo! and 1200 if you are serious. I have a 6060 AC with 200 cu. It has a turbo and a intercooler. I turned it from 60 hp to 100 hp before they delivered it in 83. It is just a spraying tractor now (7500) hrs. The turbo has never been off. Just the diesel pump twice. and adjusted the valves year before last. Yes I drive a 5.9 Cummins and a 5.4 Ford. Vic

Yes but diesels are made for turbos, not v6 gases. And that ecoboost ain't got no 500hp. A hemi will walk all over a ecoboost. I'll twin turbo my hemi and it will probebly have 600-700hp but it will be putting stress on the rest of the motor.

Ford's sales are up 17% last quarter, GM and Chrysler 11% Toyota down, I think 4%. The little V 6 has 6 main bearing bolts!

Still isn't a v8, there sales can keep going up, gm and Chrysler won't be quitting making vehicles anytime soon. Ford will have to do something different when the 6.4 hemi is going in trucks next year, hope they figure something out, and I hear the powerstrokes are still a mess, have already heard horror stories on the 6.7s not to mention the 6.0s and 6.4s. Only good one they have made is the 7.3
