Truck idle speed

I used a friends dump truck to haul with for two days. It is Ford 9000 with Cat and no Jake. Idle speed was around 950 which seems high to me. Not much engine braking. What should idle speed be?

depending on year, engine [not stated], some model have computers that will idle engine to keep it from cooling down and load up fuel and wash out cyl's, or could have been set to keep oil pressure up for turbo spooling dry, hard to tell why unless you maybe ask owner why.. yes, seens high to me also.. my mack work truck, idles around 600-800rpm for some rerason also, computer model...junker

Our ford 9000 idles at about 600 rpm, but we always idle it up
when it sits to around 1000, but ours has a 855 cummins

What type pedals does it have? If the older floor mounted "treddle type" check for accumulated dirt on the floor blocking the pedal from returning as it should. Also check linkage for dirty/rusted pivot points, weak/unhooked/broked return springs.
Some years ago I had a driver complain that Jake didn't work, brakes seemed to be dragging,& idle too high. In this case it happened to be an IHC cab-over. Handed him a screw driver & broom to clean the hardened mud from floor & a can of "loose juice" to lube the pedals. Cured the problems himself in 10 minutes.

Yes, I have experienced sticky pedal before. The pedal on this truck is loose at the bottom, and I tried pulling up on it. Pulling up would cause RPMs to drop only very slightly.
