2012 ford f250

Just posted on another forum but will also ask here. Ford F250 diesel 4x4 280 mile trip, down with trailer 15.3. Back with 2500 to 4000 on 9.3. Truck has 30,000 miles on it.
Is this it?

I would say so. They are great trucks, but emission controls take their toll on mileage. (Assume you're talking about mileage.) My 01 350 gets about 12.5 with 9,000 lbs. on my gooseneck.

Thats on the high side as my 2011 got less but [IF] you drive 55M.P.H.it will get mileage but at 75 it is single digits.Traded it for new Dodge not much difference.About the same power although the Dodge rides nice.I think a standard transmission would help mileage but the automatic works nice.

My '12 F350 6,500 miles gets 16 just driving around close to 20 on highway with cruise. When I pull trailers it gets 12-14 and the weight is alot more than you had. My V-10 & 6.0 would be 9-10, the 6.4 would be 10-12 pulling the same trailer loads. I always calculate mpg by hand but the computer has been pretty much right on.

I have an 2011 F250 and when I baby it I get 12-15. Went on a parts run 80-90 mph and got 13. Pretty much like the 454 I had once. Just got a GN 34" and pulling a 580K, I was getting 8.5. I have only 11K on it but am thinking about a Truck Edition chip for around $250. I don"t need power. Dealer say milage is within range and the erratic shift pattern in 3rd isn"t unheard of as Ford is using the tranny to try to get milage. I could go to River City and get a complete redo but pretty costly for the miles I drive. Plus I put air bags on it to make it ride level. This is why I use my Toyota Sienna as my pickup getting 22 mpg.

thats about the best you'll get, the older pickup diesels got a little better, especially the dodges, my old 12 valve gets 24 to 25 running empty, about 17 pulling a 18 foot trailer, bosses 2012 gets 17 empty and about 9 loaded, it does have much more pulling power, but across the board when they increased the power the millage went to heck

Makes ya glad ya spent the extra $8k for the diesel + $100 oil changes + higher fuel cost, doesn"t it? My 2012 6.2 gasser gets 15 running around empty & 10 pulling my 36", 8k# TT, gas is 50 cents less per gallon & oil changes cost me $50. Just saying.
