just bought the old truck worth the money but having problems finding out the weight and trying to figure out how to plate the truck.. im located in kentucky and all these rulls have changed and im only using the truck for hauling my own personal stuff i buy like dozer back hoe.. exc.. how would u guys tag it if it were yours or does anone know weight of truck

As a fellow Kentuckian if I were you I would put a farm tag on it, especially if its a straight truck. The DOT/State Troopers came to the extension office this time last year, and gave us the speech. Probably the same one you got. Anything over 10k that articulates you have have a class A cdl, dot# run a log book if you go over x amount of miles. Straight trucks they were not worried about. Ive ran all year with none of the above, and havent even got so much as a second look, and a lot of these were not under the radar loads. Hauled a 9ton dozer from marieta OH to London KY and all over London. Gleaner K to Glasgow, and most most recently 8 32k(truck+trailer+corn) loads of corn. This was with a Dodge dually, and goosenecks so your mileage may vary with a "big" truck, but in my experience the farm tag gets you a lot of "room" to operate.

we own a 1984 gmc brigadir single axle licensed for 60,000. we pull a 28 foot grain trailer 700 buschels of corn on it.

I am also in Ky and I would put a standard farm plate on it until I got caught. Been there done that. I did that to my tandem truck and 30" dump trailer for about 6 months, hauling grain. I got stopped for a "safety inspection" and thought I was hung. He got the info from my registration and didn't say a thing.

I live in Ohio bought a L8000 Ford 2 years ago just to pull a gooseneck trailer to local fairs and tractor shows. In Ohio any truck over 1 ton must be tag commercial no matter if you are using it for your own use. No matter how you tag it they will find something if they want to. Good Luck
