Trailer tires

Well I think its time for trailer tires. The treads are good on mine but the sidewalls are very cracked and im afraid ill blow one soon. My question is what are you guys running on your trailers? Its a 10000 lb pj mostly used to haul my m or h around on but the occasional load of scrap or whatever also. Size is 7.50 by 16lt. Load range E. I would prefer to stay away from chinese tires as thats whats on it and look where it got me. So what are you guys running? What kind of price? Thanks for the input.

7.50-16? Wow, those have got to be some OLD tires.

I would replace them with modern radial LT-rated light truck tires. A nice straight road tread, no need for knobby 4x4 tires. LT225/75R16 E-rated tires are good for around 2600lbs each.

Most of my hauling....when I was still farming.....was local, within a hundred miles or so. Never had anything on the trailers but used truck tires; my various farm trucks used basically the same tires (7.50/215/225/235 etc x 16 load range E). If I didn't have some good take-offs, the local tire dealer always had some with about half-remaining tread for $15-20.

Almost every trailer tire made is made overseas. We have Akuret brand on 4 of our trailers and have been happy. Carlisle trailer tires are still made in the US; pricey though. We run them on our gooseneck but we are running 14ply super singles instead of duals. You are probably looking for an ST215/85R16 to replace yours. That is the common size on tandem dual goosenecks.

I just put four 225/75/15 8 ply Carlisle on my 7K car hauler for $515.33 at Farm & Fleet. There was a Chinse symbol on the label but could not find where they were made on the tire?? An thinking about a 34' GN and wondering about 215/70/17.5?? About a $100 more. I am not planing on hauling that much but?? You usually get what you pay for.

Michelin tires is what i use on truck and trailer 235/85/16 load range e 10ply hauled air up to 39,760lbs no problems yet 41 frank good luck with the Carlisle tires i didn't or coopers
