I"ve hauled My Allis Chalmers in one a couple times. Make sure you get a maxi width trailer. and over tall also. I used someone elses trailer. I needed to douk a little getting in and out. even with the doors open they get exhaust smell real fast. and the tydowns are not realy made for tractors. I used 4 straps front and rear befor I was happy with the security. I"d much rather haul mine on a open deck trailer. My own trailer is a drop deck the deck is down at the axles with side rails fender high the lenght of the bed. It sits lon enought only the tractor muffler sticks above the truck topper, so I have no added wind resistance pulling it. its low enough I back up to the curb at the church and drive off and on without ramps. Its much easier to walk around on the ground and tiedown without ever even climbing on the trailer. or worse yet cralling around in a inclosed trailer tieing down.

like dave said, the biggest problem with any tractor in an enclosed trailer is that very few of these trailers have the necessary tie downs in them to restrain a tractor, some idiot pulls out in front of you [ and they will] you have to hit the brakes hard and your tractor is coming right thru the front wall of the trailer and doing major damage to itself in the process, even if it doesnt make it into the back or your tow vehicle, plus if your someplace and find a implement or something you decide you want, and its 2 feet longer than your trailer when you put it and the tractor in, with an enclosed trailer your sol, with a open deck its no problem at all

Why would a 4000lb car be any different than a 4000lb tractor?

Your basic 8N only weighs about 2500lbs, much lighter than something like a 1968 Dodge Charger, for example.

if the enclosed trailer is designed to haul cars, its no problem, however most enclosed trailers are designed to haul freight, not vehicles, freight is secured by load locks ect freight does not have its full weight secured to 4 points its secured over a broad area by several different points usually e tracks in the trailer wall, e tracks will not hold a tractor, or a car

KRS Stealth builds two trailer the Viper and the Intruder. These trailers come with 16" OC floor joists with 3/4" floor. These also come with D rings in the floor. If I was buying one I would ask manufacture if it could be had with a heaver floor.

enclosed has advantages & disadvantages as ponted out by others. enclosed protects against parts theft & vandalism when traveling also bad weather conditions and road hazards. With a 24'x102" V-Nose I recently hauled a JD 320 from Bremen, GA & a JD 420 from knoxville, TN back to the Sioux City, Ia - Sioux Falls, SD area. Used D-rings & HD strap between tractors. Pulled with O11 dura-max. the only way i could tell I was pulling a trailer was to look in the rear view mirror.
