Billy back again my Onan 6.5 nhd-fb/1m generator keeps draining the battery. What can I check out besides disconnecting the battery.

Give me some time to bring up that unit. Could be control relay,solenoid bad and a few other items

Yes I have a manual, it said to charge the battery. I'm going to check vr2 and make sure its charging the battery while running. I replaced the battery with a new one the other one was drained to far to recover, I only noticed it when I saw the red light dimly glowing one day on the control panel.

VR2 is where I would start.Because if it is running off the battery and not charging. It will go dead as you know.Best way I know is to check the battery before you start it. Then check it as it is running. If it is at say 12.5 and jumps to 13.5 while running. The problem is some where else.If you hook up the battery does anything get warm.

I know what you are thinking.DUMMY I already check that. I had the same feeling at times. When I called the factory. And got some expert reading off a check list. Doesn't do much good. When your on some hill top in west Texas. Two hundred miles from no where.
