re wiring a drill press motor

My Dad gave this drill press to me. I need to re wire the motor. Which wire needs to connect to which wire. On the power cord, Green is the ground and then there is a black and a white wire. On the motor, I have six wires to chose from. When I have a 50/50 chance, I am usually wrong 75% of the time.

Is there a wiring diagram somewhere on the motor, under the cover?

Looks like it was wired to a drum switch, so it had forward and reverse.

Is that what you want to do, or just run it in forward?

Really need the diagram, do it wrong and it's possible to damage the motor.

You might find a diagram online with a model number.

This is a fairly clear diagram, but no guarantee!

Use at your own risk unless you can find a diagram specific to the motor. If the line numbers don't match, it's not the right diagram.

One thing to remember, the motor will not reverse on the fly. It will have to coast down to stop before it will reverse.

I had already attempted to put the black to black and the white to a white and it did not run. I am thinking that my attempts to get it to run, may have damaged it. I have some spare motors on a shelf and I think I will just replace it, if one of them will fit. This motor did not have the cover plate on it and so I do not have a diagram to follow.
Thank you
