Air Compressor

I need a bigger air compressor. Anybody hear of HULK Silent Series, Model HP01P006SS by EMAX ? It is 1 HP , 120 PSI, 6 Gallon. It advertises having more CFM than most of the $200 units. I will use it to put air in tires and blow dirt out of my tractor radiators. No painting.

Don't know anything about that brand but have never liked a oil-less compressor.
The ones I've been around had a short life cycle and where noisier than a oil type.

I have a 6 gallon oiless that I keep at the house for tires. Its loud and lacks the volume to blow off my lawn tractor. Had a 20 gallon oiless that only lasted a couple of years. Currently I have a 110 volt 20 gallon vertical tank oil type in the shop. It has sufficient capacity to run my air tools. I've been using it for 9 years with no issues. I bought it at Atwoods for less than $400.

I bought a 'california' oil less compressor. quiet as a mouse and pumps fast PLUS it all aluminum. i believe it's a 6 gal. the handle is too short is my only complaint.

I got it thru home depot. but it had to be ordered. which you can do from home. I did add a ball valve shut off to it. I literly can't believe how quiet it really is. you can carry on a conversation while standing right next to it. the all aluminum model was under $200

The fellow we hired to install new windows in this house had one of those oilless compressors. It stopped working about 1/2 of the way through the job so I ran a hose from my shop compressor out to the house so he could keep going. He mentioned that he had gone through at least 3 of those oilless compressors in less than 2 years.

My big shop compressor powered his nail gun all afternoon and never did need to run.

Bill,
I have air compressors in my shop, pole barn and I wanted one for garage. I bought a HF 2 hp 8 gallon air compressor for $99 on sale.

It's small enough and light enough to haul around in truck.

It replaced a noizy oil less compressor. I've had too many oil less ones go bad to ever think of buying another.

I used to work for another division of the parent company of Porter-Cable and Delta power tools. 3-4 times a year we would get great employee discount sales on all kinds of tools. Some were great buys, some were actually more than retail, so Buyer Beware. I bought a 4-5 gallon pancake compressor close to 20 years ago that still works fine, sits next to my new Zero turn mower that the right rear tire leaks down between mowings. It came with a wire brad nailer, think $79 for both tools. I have a twin tank contractors compressor in the basement to re-oressurize my water pressure tank evey couple months. It came with a finish nailer, think it was $119 for both. I did buy a framing nailer too. And my BIG shop compressor is a Porter-Cable too, full 7-1/2 hp Leeson motor, 2-stage cast iron compressor, inter-stage cooling, 80 gallon ASME certified tank, has run flawlessly for over 15 years. It will keep up with my 40# HF sand blaster pressure pot till the nozzle gets worn out.

If you guys oilless compressors are dying in such a short period of time your buying the wrong brand. Even the good ones won't last like an old Quincy all cast iron compressor but they should at least last a year or two of frequent use. Try to get a good price on a good compressor. Buying a unknown no-name compressor because it's cheap is usually a waste of MONEY.

I don't know anything about that brand. The only oilless compressor I'd consider would be a Thomas. Not noisy like the others, and last far longer.
We got one (branded Senco but says Thomas on it and has a Thomas model number) in 1995. We use it in the construction and remodeling business primarily to run nail guns. It's had one rebuild kit put in it and a new plug on the cord in that time.
They're not cheap, but replacing those throw away compressors frequently isn't cheap either. They make several models....
