I'm fixing up an old 350 Farmall I have that's been sitting 5 or 6 years with 10 or so gallons of gas in it. Any suggestions on what to do with the old gas? Thanks in advance. gm

Clean paint brushes (oil based paint), kill weeds, knock out wasp nests, fire starter, etc. If the gas wasn't so old you could strain it through a coffee filter and try burning it in a fuel injected vehicle, but at over 5 years old you would have to be really brave to try that. Give it to someone who recycles motor oil.

As long as there was no water in it, I'd just run it through my truck. I did that with old gas from a boat several years ago (2 stroke outboard oil mix) with no problems other than you could kinda smell the 2 stroke oil in the exhaust. Just added 2-3 gallons at a time to a 3/4 full tank.

Gary, this happened to my son last month, his car was sitting for a couple of years & he started it drove around for a day put new gas on top of gas already in tank drove 250 miles car ran pretty good not perfect..shut off & would not start in morning long story short ALL the intake valves were open, a black tar like paste around stems kept valve open. The only chemical that seems to cut the black tar like build up was P B BLASTER I'm sure there are others would have worked but we did try most of the ones I had in shop & PB was the one that worked best. Put head back on car & all is good. Problem can only be old gas. I've used old gas several times with no problems but if condition are right it can give you problems.

Speaking from experience. DO NOT try blending it with new gasoline in any shape or form. Use it as weed killer or brush pile fire starter, but do not reintroduce it into a tractor fuel system.

Drain it out of the tractor gas tank somehow, Then check to see if it even BURNS. Try to light a small pan of it on fire with a match or lighter. My Dad had a couple 5 gallon cans of gas that the Farmall M would run on, but I could not get a puddle of it to burn with my BIC lighter to burn some trash. I had to pour in Good Gas to get the old bad gas to burn.

Once you find out if it burns you will know what to do with it. Put new gas in the 350.

I drained the tank on a Mercedes restore project and got about 8 gallons of some nasty stuff out of it...It had been in the car for over 15 years. It was the color of varnish and extremely nasty smelling. I set it behind the shop in two 5 gallon open top plastic buckets with a piece of plywood over the top. My mind filled up with other stuff and I forgot about it. About two weeks later I wandered back there and found two empty buckets ?? guess it evaporated ???

On your question: "Any suggestions on what to do with the old gas?"

Years ago I was looking around for a used Cushman Eagle......motorcycle version of the Cushman Scooter. Followed up on an ad in the paper. Got to the house, was kicking the tires and removed the fuel tank cap for a look see........

Within about 2" of the neck was solid varnish.....a tank full of it. Didn't figure I could do anything with that "old gas". Passed on the deal.

Maybe use it as a brush pile fire igniter or such.
