I saw that live on TV when it happened. The truck driver whose truck I was working on had got in the truck, turned on the TV and we watched it bank around, then go into the building. We were like"what the he!! was that all about?". Choked me up a bit just now thinking about the lives lost then and all those we've lost since then hunting down the dirt bags that do this type of junk.

My late son gave this to me after the terror attack. A friend of his drew it. Compelling

I remember that day well.

I was working for an insurance company, and as soon as I sat down at my desk at 8:00 I took a phone call from an auto repair shop in Brooklyn, NY. It was 9:00 in NY. While the fellow and I were talking business, people started yelling in the background. He cut off to see what was going on, and when he came back he said an airplane had hit one of the World Trade Center towers, but he didn't have any details.

Things unfolded from there, and he gave me a blow by blow account while we were on the phone.

THEN, our daughter was, at the time, the Multimedia Manager of a Borders Bookstore in Pentagon City, several blocks from the Pentagon. When we got word that a plane had hit the Pentagon, things got a bit scary. I tried calling her business number and absolutely nothing happened. After a half hour or so, I got a busy signal when I'd try. Finally, after about an hour I got the switchboard at the store. The gal told me that Corporate had told them to close the store, and Amy had gone home with a co-worker who lived within walking distance.

About noon, Amy got through to my office on her cell phone. I was on another phone call, but the Claims Manager knew the situation and held Amy on his own phone until I could take her call.

Interesting day.

At least our men have extinguished the vermin that master minded it. The folks on flight 93 saved the loss of many other lives. And the Taliban paid the price for their complicity. We do fight back. Usually successfully.

we sent engines and crews into the city for a few nights to serve as backup for FDNY if needed. Then later on a few of the guys went in and worked on the recovery
