We saw this on the internet, and my wife made one. She put a little hummingbird feed in it and added a little cat food. Photos are from day one and day two.

I don't know what those big hornet looking things are, but they have the hummingbirds bluffed. They'll chase the hummers away from the feeders.

I guess this would be a tool? I consider a fly swatter a tool.

Looks like yellow jackets. They are actually a ground wasp. They get more aggressive in the fall when they are trying to finish storing food for the winter.
 

I suppose you should be grateful that they are European rather than Asian Hornets !

We have European Wasps here , they are bad enough as our Winters are mild and the nests survive till the next Summer growing in size all the time .
 
These will sting you if you trap one against you, but don't seem to want to land and sting like an angry bumblebee. We don't like them harassing the hummingbirds.
