there are a lot of updates for each program? in the computer..can all the updates except the very latest be deleted. will this action pose any problems for the program/the operation of the pc.. will this free up any space..thanks

That's like asking YTers if you need to clean out your fridge. *lol*

Sorry, is no way to answer that question 100%. But GENERALLY, once an operating system gets updates, they need to stay in place. Sometimes an update may be due to a particular other program that you used to run but no longer have. In that instance, the update could be deleted - although deleting any such update also carries the risk of removing some small bit that might cause the OS to have a glitch.

If you're looking for more disk space, I'd HIGHLY recommend looking on Amazon (or your favorite spot) and getting an external hard drive. External drives with HUGE capacity can be had for very low cost. Then, could always transfer your photos, videos and other "cherished" files to that drive. You could then delete some or all of those files from your PC hard drive. You could even do a system backup onto the other hard drive, which could be quite helpful if you ever had a failure on your PC.

Here's the most recent one I've gotten. If you have an older OS or a very slow PC, you may have to go with no larger than a 1TB (terabyte).

If you have files you really want to keep protected, would be a good idea to buy two -- one that stays connected to your PC (just for convenience' sake) and another that stays in a safe place, only used for adding new info to.

If the updates are installed they are now part of that software,or operating system. If they are in the download file folder, as .exe files, and have not been used to up grade the software they should be run in order, then deleted, including the latest one in the sequence. Some of them depend on prior updates to function. Jim

later os will clean themselves up as needed on updates, so its not needed... As to you apps, thats depends on them. On the os, you can use the "disk cleanup" tools to free up space.

thanks for the help,as you can guess I am not a whiz on these things. I will purchase external hard drive the next time I am in town. I appreciate everyone's help each time I ask about a problem.
