Crankshaft seal area on a small 2 cycle generator

Needed to replace the crankshaft seals on my small 2 cycle generator. In drilling into the seals to remove them I nicked the case in a couple of spots. Can I use JB qwik weld or silicone rtv sealant fill the gaps, I think the gaps will be in the seal area but am not sure. Which would you use. How would you insure that the JB weld dosen't go into the seal area to cause further problems, if that is what you would use. If it does extend into the seal area how would you correct that. I have a dremel tool to use if need be. I'm going to use RTV sealant on the outside rim of the seals when I install them. Any and all suggestions and help appreciated and welcome.
Thanks,
Bill

I like using RTV for installing seals, if the nick is not too large. In the past I used RTv to replace the large "O" rings a a Ford 800 rear differential with excellent results, no leaks or problems.

RTV generally doesn't stand up well exposed to gasoline. Crank seals in a two cycle are exposed to gasoline. NOT a good choice, IMHO.

Dirko HT is what you want.

It's some sort of an rtv sealant. It's what the Stihl dealer sold me to seal up crankcases.

Most if not all stihl engine crankcases I've worked on don't use gaskets, just sealant.
