3 pt quick hitch

getting older. more difficult to hook up some heavy 3 pt equipt. considering a quick hitch, however the top link hook would be blocked from the upper pins on the 3 pt equipment i have by the braces below. I guess I could rig up a projecting pin the the upper hook could grasp? I also looked at quick hooks that fit on the lower arms only, however the arms swing wide on one tractor and swing in on the newer tractor??
Do I just have the wrong OLD farm equipment?

Three point hitch design varies some between manufactures of tractors and implements. So three point quick hitches rarely work on all of the implements you have with out modifying the hitch on the implements. The thing is once you make your implements work with the hitch your done. Your quick hitch will work from then on.

The quick hook lift arm extensions are not really the total answer. Most three point arms move side to side so your not going to get both hooked up easily. Also they move the lift point back which changes the geometry of the hitch. You have to run the top link longer and your lift capacity is lowered.

What I have done is made my heavy stuff match so I can use a quick hitch on those implements. The smaller lighter stuff I can move with a pry bar to hook up easily. I have also put some removable jacks on some things for friends as they get older. So they can move the implement to match the arms easier and then just remove the jack after they are hooked up.

What you have is the most common problem with non-quick hitch compatible implements. If you are handy with a welder it usually isn't too hard to redo the support bracket to go on top the top-link attachment point instead of below it.

Another option is to use a quick hitch adapter yoke. It only takes a few minutes to attach and can be used on virtually all implements that are not quick hitch compatible.

This one is from AgriSupply and runs about $20.

Last year I purchased a set of "Pat's Easy change" hooks to go on the lower arms of my 3 point hitch. These things are the fantastic! I can change implements in about two minutes without any effort. All I have to do is back up. Slightly lift the lower arms. Then step off and connect the top link. My implements vary in pin width and the Pat's has a spreader to adjust the arms to my required spacing. These do add 4" so I did also need a longer top link.
Any tractor I own will definitely get a set of these.

Have put the lift arm hooks from Pat?s on threedifferent tractors. Love ?em. My personal best has been three unhitch/hitch ups in 5 minutes...and that was at night, too.
Haven?t had any issues with decreased lift ratings (yes, they do reduce lift but I haven?t bumped into anything I couldn?t lift...but I don?t do round bales).

Note that Pat?s has a quick attach spacer arm to hold the arms at right separation.

I vote for Pat's also BTW I have had folks offer me one of those 3pt quick hitches FREE they hatted them...

Those with a pat's tip... The pins stay with the implement drill the pin and put a cotter pin in it, the pin will never come out on its own...

I had a set of Pats and I hated them. They now belong to someone else. I bought a quick hitch and am very happy with it. All most all of my stuff is smaller and can be moved with a bar but I don't have to now. I remodels each piece as I used it and what I found is some of the equit has a hole below where the top link pin goes and by making that hole bigger it work perfect. Some others I extended the top link pin out. The only one I have to get off the tractor for now is my brush hog because mine has a chain from the top of the hitch to the rear of the brush hog. I just back up to it and hook the lower pins get off the tractor and raise the top up and hook it up

does this attach to the implement withthe singlehole so the quick hitch can grab the pin in the double end? Pictures??

Friend with 55 hp YTM has a quick hitch. Nothing quick about it. We had to modify all his old equipment to connect the top part.

Couldn't use it on post hole digger.

The arms on his YTM are adjustable by pushing in on a lever. That's better than a quick hitch, which in my opinion isn't that quick.

I made my own version of a quick hitch out of scrap metal for Jubilee.
