Dewalt 20 V batteries on 18V tools

I have a few older good working 18 Volt Dewalt cordless tools and was wondering if anyone has "real experience" using the converter so they can be operated with the newer 20 Volt Lithium Batteries.

NOTE, I don't intend to start any feud over which brand of tools or what batteries are best lol, I love the ones I have, they work great as is, and I will continue their use REGARDLESS if at 18 or 20 volt,,,, Im ONLY asking "if anyone has actually used these 20/18 adapters and if so what was their experience". I may try them and I may not, I will decide that later after I do more research on advantages or disadvantages and cost etc. etc.

No personal experience, but HD has lots of reviews.

Seems to be mostly good, but some didn't work for them.

Better price at HD, take it back if it doesn't work.

I have one for my 18V tools and the only issue I have with it is that it sticks when trying to remove the battery pack (with adapter) from the tool. It may be that mine has a slight defect that causes this issue. But even with that issue, I think they work great and I can now use the 20V batteries on both my 20V & 18V tools. I like the added run time for the 18V tools and the fact that the batteries don't run down when not in use. And I only have to buy one type of battery now.

That is a good price, as mine was $40+ when they first came out and for just one. Mine doesn't have the USB charger either.

JT,
The last two batteries I bought off amazon were 18v Ni-Mh for $32.

I just discovered a 2 pack of Li-ion aftermarket for $46. $23 each.

I like the 2 pk I purchased. $16 each.

I can't see getting batteries rebuilt after seeing what Amazon has.

I'll never buy another battery with a square trade warranty. Not worth it. Not worth the hassle.

Work well but the tool doesn't sit level any more. The also don't work in a 100% of 18s. The make the tools a bit on the big side. I ended up selling off most my 18v and stuff and adapters. except my jig saw, impact driver, and circular saw. I have 2 18 lithium batterys that I kept for these. If yo can find 18v lithium and charger I would go the that route. I have slowly be converting my tools to the 20v brushless stuf.

We have 2 adapters and love em! No issues at all. Only 2 18 volt tools left, but many 20 volt slowly switching. But adapter was a good investment
