I have never seen one like this before, probably wasn't very popular.

Owned a couple for a while. One was operable, other for parts. Tried it once with not much success. Mostly think it needed more set on the blade cause it wanted to bind, I was just trying it out on a 2x4.

Interesting idea but it was also heavy and cumbersome. Course having a 4 cycle engine was a switchup from the norm.

I have saw only one Sally Saw in my life. It had been restored and was operational. Sold for $2200.00.

If I remember correctly they were made by Cummins in MD and was made before the one man chainsaw became practical after WW2.

I imagine it'd feel even more heavy once you start using it, assuming it's cutting upward, so constantly pressing the engine side downward from resistance to the blade in the wood.

You loosened a clamp back at the engine end and turned the saw to where you wanted it.I've seen a couple of them,I only saw them in use when somebody was demonstrating how they worked.I know of one that was in use right up until a few years ago.The man used it to build log homes.I never saw him use it,but his help wouldn't touch it.He also used a Wright reciprocating saw for cabin logs.

That name " Gyro Gearloose " brings back so many good memories! I had a treehouse in an old cottonwood with a crayon sign saying that it was " Gyro's " workshop.

My dad ignored it, and me being up there in it until he found the carburetor, magneto, sparkplugs and most of the wiring a 7 year old could manage to remove from a Case A6 combine with the Hercules 4 cyl engine up there.

I explained " I was fixing it for him " He was NOT impressed.
