thanks and more thanks,,what a great response to the problem I am having. I made a list from your answers.. I will get started Friday, when I go to town.. I tried the anteater solution.but I guess the zoo people got wise, and they started renting the anteater out to people with the ants.. I think the ideas you had were cheaper. have a good day

Cd; I said I'd post again when I had any information about using liverwurst mixed with borax as an ant killer. These ants, around the concrete foundation of my house, seem more like the ones you're having trouble with than the visually identical ones which were in my kitchen. The ones in the kitchen ate the sugar/borax/water mixture I put out, and stopped appearing. The ones outside ignored the same mixture.

Yesterday afternoon I put out liverwurst mixed with borax and thinned to a batter-like consistency with water. Those ants went for it immediately. By nightfall the dish holding that mixture was swarming with ants, probably hundreds of them. I put out a fresh batch about ten minutes ago. There isn't much activity yet, but that is likely to be because the sun hasn't reached that area yet and the concrete is still cold. I consider it to be good news that those particular ants have eaten the borax mixture with such enthusiasm. Now they just have to share it with the queen, if they haven't done so already.
